So i need to get some new tires on my GS500, well mainly the rear. I currently have Kenda tires on the front and back but I am going to replace the rear and possibly the front as well. (the front is not worn that bad)

I have been looking at tires and was thinking about going with something like:
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/28/396/6158/ITEM/Michelin-Pilot-Activ-Rear-Tire.aspx

since its been recommended to have great dry and wet performance.

I currently commute back and forth to work almost every day (rain or shine) and then some weekends I go into the mountains for a ride with some friends so I would like a good all around tire.

I live in GA so it does it get a bit hot but also and randomly be cold.

Also is it really worth going for the 140mm rear or just staying with 130mm

My bike now has Activ front and back , very good tires with grip and stability . I have original 130 rear but if you have a choice go with 140  :thumb:

Yeah I have read alot of good things about the pilot series of tires, all the bikes I have had before I have never had to replace tires, they have been gone before they had enough miles (fix and sale).

I was reading the wiki and there was a list by gsJack, but since I want the best possible traction with the best reasonable mileage I had to ask

Ive been running a Pirelli sport demon 110/70 for the full 4 years I've been riding.(My second.) I had the battleax on last time and didn't get as much wear as I usually get from them. Swapped to the Michelin Pilot 140/70 in May and have put almost 5,000 miles on it since including driving from Nashville to Deals Gap and back. Has had great traction dry or wet. And still plenty of tread on the sides and center. Can't say I have had a complaint out of it yet. I swapped my suspension out in July for the Kat 750 shock and the tire has still been amazing.

I run Michelin Pilot Powers on my bigger bikes and have been really satisfied with them.  Still run cheap Kendas on the GS's.
