For those who didn't make it, sorry you couldn't... you missed a great ride.  Mother nature smiled on our little group all weekend long and the result as an AWESOME trip.  Here are a few pics of the trip.

State College, PA 03-26-04[/b]

The R6 all packed and ready to rock.  I tried and tried to get those nelson rigg saddle bags to fit the R6, but they just shifted too much to be safe, so I went with the tank n tail bags, plus plenty of bungees  :thumb: After a brief shower passed in the morning, I jumped on the bike around lunchtime and hit the road for Cumberland.

Cumberland, MD 03-26/27-04[/b]

I met up with a friend to crash for the night.  We went for a spin around Frostburg (my very first two-up experience!!!).  Then I headed out to meet Ves at his hotel before moving out for Virginia.

Skyline Drive, VA 03-27/28-04[/b]

Ves and I opted to hit the interstate to save time... so we missed out on any West Virginia twisties we might have hit.  Its cool though, the highway  was great, too.  Once we got to Front Royal we met Tom and Dan, gassed up and hit the park for some AWESOME riding     The weather was great the whole weekend... the worst we encountered was a few miles of wet road from a shower that passed earlier in the day.  Services were not yet open for the season in the park, which means that traffic was way down... probably lower than it will be any other weekend this year. We camped in the backcountry on the Appalachian Trail.  Had the site to ourselves.  Below are some of my pics.  Ves and Tom both took others... I'll post a few more when I receive them.

yeah dude... go easy.  Give yourself some time to recover

I found that the southern end of skyline (the end that hooks up with the BRP) was even more fun than the northern end... twistier with fewer visitors and park rangers.  Miles 65-75 were just plain heaven
my trip odo read 895.0 miles when I pulled into the garage tonight!!!!

here are a few quickly compiled stats from my little adventure:

2 emergency brakes for deer
3 close calls with state troopers/park rangers
4 states
5 games of tag with cute girls in cars on the highway
78 hours
895.0 miles
completely lost count of biker-waves

my back and wrists should be in sweet agony tonight!!!   somehow I still found the strength to ride into town for some dinner tonight

How neat! Good pictures. Great read! And a wonderful mix of rides! :)

I found out about the ride the day before... already had a hike through McConnell's Mills planned with a buddy... So when is 2.0?  I'm right outside Pittsburgh (used to live up in Happy Valley when life was good and mom and dad to foot the bill)...didn't recognize exactly where you were from the pics, though.  Used to live at university terrace.  Anyway, my bike is coughing and laggin right now so she probably wouldn't have been up to it.  but next time, we'll see.  Hope it was fun...

hey smoker,

I live on University Drive in a duplex house.  Its nice... quiet and out of the way.

as for Skyline 2.0, I'm sure a 'Meet and Greet' thread will go up soon.  Keep an eye out for it  :thumb:

I completely agree with vtlion (Ron). This trip goes in the Awsome column. :thumb:

Beacause any good adventure is only as valuable as the things you learn I will list them below:
1. Glass beer bottle melt in a camp fire.
2. The Chinese groceres on Rt. 33 are ultra cool (they offered us their home phone number in case we need more beer, franks, chips, etc. after 7:00 pm when they closed).
3. The words to the Ren and Stimpy 'Log' commercial.
4. The 35 mph speed limit on Skyline Drive is only a recommendation.
5. A procedure for dealing with cops in case they don't agree with #4 above. :nono:
6. A front tire slide in a right hand turn puts you into on-coming traffic. :o
7. McDonald's breakfast is no substitute for a Bob Evans.
8. What the metal hooks at AT shelters are use for.
9. Motorcycling with folks you meet on GStwin.com makes for a fantastic cycling weekend.
As my Uncle Bilbo used to say, "It's a dangerous thing taking your motorcycle out of the garage. If you don't keep your wits about you there's no telling where you'll be swept off to."

wow.. i cant believe you went on such a long trip with a super sport... thats amazing... i guess you prove those people wrong when they say you cant ride for long periods of time on a super sport... :thumb:

hopefully i will get a lot of miles in this summer.. and i will be able to buy a super sport as well...
everybody looks sexy on a bike... until they take off their helmet..

I'll be ready for 2.0. I finallygot a chance to ride the bike tonight - it feels awesome. The throttle response was incredible, and it reved so much faster than it did before that a few times I bounced it off the 12! There is definitely a noticeable power difference, it feels like a whole new bike. I need to adjust the suspension, it  rode a little hard, but I did a few high speed exit ramps and the bike just tucked in and stuck to the line like it never has before. Can't wait for my track day!! (and 2.0)
