I have lurked here for a while without posting. This blue 2001 gs500 was my first bike. I rode it from Chicago to Key West and back and had a great time earlier this month, but the motor died at 70 m.p.h. 100 miles from home.

It has 11,000 miles and is otherwise in excellent condition. It's all stock apart from an F15 screen I fitted prior to the trip. Has a couple of cosmetic scratches on the exhaust from where the previous owner dropped it at low speed. Currently stored in my heated basement in Chicago on a battery tender.

The motor is seized. I haven't opened it up but assume it will be cheaper/more sensible to replace the motor than fix it. The top end is almost certainly toast. I'm ready to move up to a bigger bike so am selling it now rather than fixing myself. I am open to offers but will fix it and sell it as a runner if I can't get what I consider a fair price for it in its current condition. I prefer not to part it out.

Email me at kjanssen@suntimes.com if you want to know more, or to make an offer. Thanks!
