Thus if N = 300,000,000 (90% US pop.) and K = 30 then Degrees of Separation = 19.5 / 3.4 = 5.7 and if N = 6,000,000,000 (90% World pop.) and K = 30 then Degrees of Separation = 22.5 / 3.4 = 6.6. (Assume 10% of population is too young to participate.)

in a retail location. you get a call or a visit, of someone checking prices. you tell them. they say ok. will "be back" in a lil bit. and 9 out of ten never do. same wiht FB or pr0n central. myspace. and eventually google. htey say theyll coem in, and dont. or do, and never return.

but this is more of a case of being added to the group and saying "because i am a member i can get in contact with anyone in the world with just 6 steps" not really needing to show up anywhere.
the only true way to test to see if you du have 6 degrees of seperation is to go to a foring country where you dont know a single person, then pick someone at random, stalk them till you find out key info (such as name DOB address ect.) then return to the group and see if you can find said person by talking to someone from that country (in the group) who will talk to somepne near that city (in or out of group)  who will talk to another friend near that street, who will talk to another friend near that address, who will talk to someone about that age, who should in therory know said person at the begining, seperating you and the other person by 6 degrees.
the best test would be if you found someone in a larger city. also the test takes a huge amount of teamwork and is incredibly creepy (if someone found me in this manor and told me about it i would prolly punch them in the face)

it comes from the hippies wanting a truly united world, and how better to prove that we are all related then to do something like this? then again it would make intercourse quite creepy

George Bush.... yep, I am linked to someone who is linked to a person who is linked to Dubbya. And through Dubbya how many others would I thus have a link to all within 6?
