Just posted some quetions on my bike, but forgot one...  What's this toolkit business?  I'm third owner of a '96 with about 7k, looks real nice, runs, well, so-so (see previous post).  Anyway, a site I found said something about a toolkit.  Do I not know where to look, or did it just not get passed down with the bike (as I suspect happened to the manuals...)

Just wondering, I've got pretty much all I need at home anyway, but the spanner wrench for the shock would be nice....  Any suggestions where to pick one up cheap???

Toolkit should be under the seat, all the way to the back. Just forward of the taillight.

The tool baggie goes missing alot when bikes get sold.  

Not really a loss. the tools are really cheezy. You'd be better off replacing them with good quality tools.

Someone has a picture of the toolkit somewhere... not sure if it's in a post (search for it ) or on somebody's website.   There's probably a list of tools associated with that post.

Best to buy a nice, compact set of real tools that won't rust on you.

The tools are designed to be small, light & used when you have to fix something on the side of the road at 3am.  The toolkit shouldn't take the place of a quality set of mechanic's wrenches for general maintence, but it's VERY useful when you break down far away from home.  I wouldn't want to ride w/o out my toolkit because I've had so many experiences where it came in handy.

More like to be absolute as cheap as the factory can source and still call them "tools" without snickering to themselves. Alot of mine have broken screwdriver handles and  bent/stripped wrenches.
The stock kit is better than nothing, but if you're going to have to replace the  tool kit, might as well get better ones while you're at it.

 I figured it should've been under the seat...  And judging from the kit that came with my Nighthawk, I also figured that it wasn't worth losing sleep over.  Besides, I'm always looking for an excuse to buy new toys...I mean, tools...
