So I've been searching for laws and guidelines relating to what we can and can't do to motorbikes in here and so far I've found

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi28.pdf

I'll update more links as I come across them. I've got a strict P plate tester and was just checking whether putting a Yoshimura slip on exhaust would "upset" him... Looks like it just might.  Bugger

Do it after you've had your test. I've never worried about that when I've done any mode to my bikes.

Yeah I plan to mod it after my test but it still means I have to wait until I have my blacks, unless I want to put it on and then take it off and put the stock on... But I'm too lazy to do that.

Why do you have to wait till you're on a full licence?

Don't you have to do two tests? One to go from L's to P's and one to go from P's to blacks? Or have I stuffed that up?

I have no idea, I got my licence back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Back in my day, you did your test to get your P plates and that was it.

You do a test from L's to P's and thats it.  If your over 25 with couple of years driving experience you go from your red P's to your blacks, if you don't meet this criteria you go from red P's to green P's then blacks.  But once you have your P's you don't have to do another ride test.

Then why is it that most stupid people have no idea they're stupid?

If your over 25 and have a FULL car license then its red Ps to full bike license. Otherwise its green Ps. I don't know if there is a test to go from Red Ps to Green Ps. I went from red Ps to Full License and all that required was me walking into an RTA and asking.

Thanks for the link to that .PDF Thoes vsi's are a bugger to navigate!  :technical:

My car is too loud, too low, tint is too dark... I have a list of "defects" almost a page and a half long when I tried to change my rego. As a P plater I have been stopped (at every RBT site) and pulled over several times for 'RBT's but not once have they had anything to say about the modifications to my car. I would say it goes for bikes too, if you're polite and co-operate than they will leave you alone.

So strap that Yoshi on after your test and have-at-it!  :icon_mrgreen:

That is pretty much right unless you hang out in a group with other car nuts. Then the cops just get mean. I've always driven older cars (some of them were even classics) used to be fun dealing with cops. They would stare and scratch their heads because the models of cars I had weren't common cars so they didn't know what was factory or not. And when I mode I like to make things look as factory as possible.
These days though, I just do it to the book, even if that means I'm almost tearing the pages, but still its all legal. Its allot nicer to be able to pull the engineering report out and go there you go mate, knock yourself out looking over the car, truth if though I've never had to. On the hot rod all they wanted to do was get a better look and ask how did you solve this problem like questions. With the zed they said things like, I always wanted one of these when I was younger and then send me on the way.
