Ratzo

I hit a dog once with my Bultaco on a gravel road. The front wheel stopped and I went over the bars, landing on my back, and banging the back of my head on the ground. The dog got up and was able to run away. I wasn't wearing a helmet. I woke up the next morning and the room was spinning. Pretty scary. I ALWAYS wear a helmet now. Don't want another c-c-c-c-concussion. :?

Well the shaZam! has hit the fan.  I just got a preliminary bill from the shop for my bike.

$3308.10

Well I suppose the good news is the insurance should pay, but with that total probably be totaled.

So I have a question.....who gets the bike when the insurance company gives me my piece of the pie after the deductable?

I know I can get the bike fixed for less....by just fixing what absolutely needs to be fixed in order to get it back on the road.
Cheers!

lol I take it that was Suzuki dealer est...well it could work out for you in a good way,,,,dont forget to give them all the info on the new parts you put on your bike,,tires anything to try and get value off the bike higher,is your gear(helmet gloves etc) covered?anyway you guys can work out a deal as far as the carcass is concerned you should be able to buy the bike back from the insurance co if they total the bike out,,most times its usaully cheap, and you shouldn't have a salvage title either,,,talk to the insurance co and I'm sure they can work something out...butt then again if you can get more bread and just start from scratch buying another used bike I would and then shell out a few hundred bucks for a parts bike :thumb:

well I bought this bike used with 378 miles for 3200 last June.
I like the little thing though......I am going to call the "dealer" tomorrow and get an est. on how much it would cost to just get it back on the road...and the insurance company will only pay for my helmet, nothing else as far as equip.  :x
Cheers!

it shouldn't cost a whole lot to get it back on the road. when i wrecked mine, it was unridable (shattered the right side engine case, took out all the electrical doo-dads in there). full estimate was around $3450, but i got it back on the road for $376.

How the hell did you scratch up BOTH sides of the rear?!
If you think you can, don't. Many things start with "I think I can," and end with "Ow!"

well dealer est.is gonna run high I would think that with a little time looking I would try  salvage yard(last place to check), ebay and gs forms would be a good way to go as far as getting parts--just set a new post looking for parts and itemize exactly what you need.....

dude i know this is a bike and all but i had a blazer go up in flames on me, the insurance co. gave me $4,000 i bought it back for about $300 sold it for parts.if the frame is good  can't you just  fix it and get it going? i know it has to be inspected as a salvaged bike but as long as the frame is good it shouldn't be that hard. i would ask a garage but not one that is going to work on my bike they will say whatever makes them the most money, hell you could get $300 for parts on here and ebay no prob i would think, well good luck dude and check your options out
