A question for the engineers and engineering students. Several people have mentioned bike being blown over through the winter, we have had quite at lot of 50-70kt winds here and this has concerned me a bit. My home parking space is well sheltered from the prevailing wind but if it gets too bad I could find Suzy-Blue buried under the remains of a 200 year old flint wall. The question is....Which is inherantly more stable, side stand or centre stand? I go for side stand as the three tripod points are further spaced but my workmate (Yamaha 600) says centre stand. Is there a definitive answer or horses for courses?

I couldn't tell you why in engineering terms, but the center stand is much more stable for me than the kick stand is.

depends on which way the wind is blowing, relative to the bike. i always try to park with the wind blowing the bike BACK and LEFT toward the sidestand.
