Hi all, hoping someone can help or advise me with this one. The 1997 GS500 that I recently bought came without it's pick up(ignition advancer?), CDI unit and R/R. I have an completely intact GS450 lying in the workshop and am hoping to use the ignition parts from that. it would appear that the bottom end is the same and the pick up fits perfectly. The problem is the wiring (colours and plugs) is all different. Has anyone done this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The motors are the same apart from the bore size, so it should work if you can match the wires. You need wiring diagrams for both bikes and some patience!

I got it started yesterday! Running a bit rough but did a compression test and all seems ok, so hopefully a good look at the carbs will sort it out. Thanks a lot for the help.
