  Help Wanted Please....
I am in dire need of a good mechanic - carburettor doctor  in the Mornington Peninsula - Frankston area ?
I have just purchased an 98 Gs 500e... I can get it to run and sometimes even on two cylinders... i have emptied the float bowls of muck cleaned out the tank and petcock screen replaced fuel hoses and vacuum hose with new vacuum hose removed the carbs and cleaned them out using carby cleaner and still she wont go past idle ... carbs have been on and off about 10 times ... to the point where i've  cracked the Sh#$S with it and i am now willing to declare before you that i am an idiot and need help ... i am prepared to pay for someone to come to me or i will trailer (bike not registered yet ) to his place and leave it to be fixed ...
i've just got my learners permit and just want to ride the thing ... Any help will be appreciated ... Thanks in advance

Have you checked the park plugs? The leads? Do you know you are getting spark to both plugs?

Have you sprayed WD40 around the carb boots to check for air leaks?

Is there an inline fuel filter?

How is your air filter?

Did you change the engine oil.

How is your battery?

These are the easy things to do, some just should be done upon acquiring a new-to-you bike regardless what the seller says.

:sad:Hey thanks for quick response ...Battery is good.. put on trickle charge for three hours - tried all the usual spraying wd40 on carb boots ...  No inline fuel filter .. Tank half full / empty with fresh fuel ... new oil and filter just changed ... air filter seems ok but a new one will be procured on monday... in meantime will blow it out with my compressor..
I have great spark on both sides  ...  i am afraid to say that i have fiddled too much and now need a second head to scratch preferably a bike mech on the payroll

Are you trying to start it with choke on or off?

Have you played with the idle screw?

Of course, if you're done and dusted with it...

Any Suzuki dealership should suffice.

 Hi again the choke doesn't seem to make much of s difference a difference... but it runs better without the choke ... The idle screw can be screwed in till the rpm rises to about 1,200 rpm then it just cuts out and you have to back the screw down to start it... and the mixture screws were set to 3 full turns out but the r/h one doesn't make any difference which way you turn it... and the l/h seems to run a bit sweeter at another turn out ... i am taking the carbies off again tomorrow to check whether the mixture screws have "O" rings inside the orifice as i don't remember them when i pulled them apart  and one may have fallen out without my knowledge although a scan of the bench did not find it and parts were laid out on a clean cloth... and will also check the float heights in case iv'e botched them up  Thanks again ..... Hi again ...   I guess it's going to the nearest workshop ... Cleaned and checked every thing  .. removed and blew out every jet ... checked mixture screws and "o" rings all ok and set mixture screws at 3turns out  ... still no good..

You got it back on the road yet?

Maybe one of the mods could flip this thread into the main section.

Hey All ...   :woohoo: believe it or not the problem was electrical ... the wiring from the timing magnets runs up through the frame and into the wiring loom behind the battery ... the old battery at some stage must have boiled and acid got into the joining plug and corroded the black wire and the green wire replaced pins and cleaned up mess and it fired up and ran and the with abit of screw turning it is idling sweetly   :thumb:  ... thanks for the replies but i was desperate and just started looking back over it all
thanks john road worthy next week then rego
