Air in front brake

Have problem in my front brakes. for some reason there seems to be a air bubble SOMEWHERE in it. now bleeding brakes should be fairly straight forward, however with this gs i have nothing but trouble. when i pump them up and crack bleed nipple heaps of fluid comes out but the pressure doesn't improve, it feels like i'm just running fluid through the system. would any one happen to know a solution to this. it happened to back brakes aswell and had to get mechanic to fix it, which means getting over charged, something i would rather avoid if i can. thanks for any help.

If you have some sort of an air leak in the system, no amount of bleeding will ever fix it. Look for signs of leaks; wherever fluid leaks out, air leaks in.

Also possible that your front lever is adjusted wrong... When I accidently set to my shortest setting, I pumped and pumped and pumped thinking that there was air.

BTW... I like to reverse bleed... Push air into the caliper using a syringe... Idea being that air would rather go up than down.

Did you recently service the breaks or did this just start to happen out of the blue?  If you changed out a line or the fluid then there is a trick I learned when bleeding.  You press in the break cylinders all the way with the m/c cover off.  Befor you do this make sure that the visible part of the break cylinder is as clean as possible.  There should be air that comes out the top of the m/c.  I just used a flat head screw driver and did it slowly.  I just did mine yesterday and it worked great.  I also wasnt getting any pressure and there were no air bubbles seen when bleeding.....untill I did this trick.  Good luck.

There is mostlikely air between the top banjo bolt and M/C. No amount of bleeding removed it for me. What u need to do is apply pressure on the brake lever and crack open the banjo bolt Untill fluid comes out then tighten back up.

thanks for tips, turns out after swearing and cursing at it for few hours that a couple of taps on the banjo bolts while pumping seemed to work. i just put new disc and hh pads on and found that previous owner didn't like to maintain the brakes any more then the rest of the bike (already had to replace engine and rear brake also really needs doing  :mad: ). so i pulled caliper off, dismantled it and rebuilt it, fun not. anyway seems to work well have to wait till bed in to be sure.

My solution for rebuilding brake calipers: throw them away!
I buy ones from new bikes with less than 1000 miles from bike breakers for $15-$20. New calipers, pads and everything are still good. MUCH cheaper than buying a rebuild kit and new pads. Definitely saves a ton of time.
As long as there squids who crash their low mileage bikes, there will be cheap, nearly new, replacement parts.
My 1992 and 1994 have 2009 brake calipers. One even has 2009 forks! Phenix, a 1993 frame, will have 2009 or 2008 brakes, triple and forks. Also putting on newer master cylinders rather than rebuilding old ones.
(Now to find what to do with all the older parts that are piling up.)

My '89's brakes really sucked until I did the braided line and new R6 master cylinder with an '05 caliper.
