How much fork oil?

Just gathering up all the info & bookmarking what I need to purchase Friday.

Getting new fork seals as well and almost forgot about the fork oil.

Still got stock springs and an upgrade isnt even on my list atm.

Plan to get my steering stem bearings & seals from there as well & also a new clutch cable.
So im just getting everything I can from the same site.

but how much will be enough? im 6ft2, 230 pnds.

Will 1 liter be enough, or get 2?

1 liter is enough, so long as you don't waste it, but I like to flush the forks out using some fresh oil. If I recall correctly, the fork legs take a little less than 800ml between them, leaving you 200ml to spill or flush with.

BTW, getting the fork oil correct is very important for fork performance. Even a 1mm difference in oil height can have a dramatic impact on the ride, so it's important to measure carefully, and correctly. With stock springs, 99mm is the recommended OEM oil level, though it's probably safe to go as low as 90mm. With aftermarket springs, 100mm is the absolute lowest safe level, but 120 is a better starting point.

At 230lbs, you really need to upgrade the springs. Stock parts are too soft for a 100lb rider, nevermind your weight. A set of $80 sonic springs will dramatically improve the handling of the bike.

and since you suggested to upgrade, I most likely will but I'm not entirely sure when.
I really should before I put the new seals and oil in.
Spending about $140 on a new chain, 15T sprocket, Steering stem bearing kit, Fork seals, Fork oil, & clutch cable on Friday.
Plus Xmas shopping and bills.
So I will have to put the springs off for another 2 weeks.
But im also still waiting to hear when http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=57028.0 will be available as I cant put my front end on until I get that too.

So I guess a lil more patience getting the bike completely back together wont hurt.
Might have no choice either hahaha

Tomb, when I rebuild a bike, I do the frame first, then the front/rear suspension, then the wheels and tires. That way you can at least roll the project around when needed.

Plus the front end is easier to lift with no motor in it!

haha my first time, im learning :)
but honestly, I've had ZERO problems with everything so far going back together. (minus putting the motor back in Myself! haha)

Not worried about the front end, if I need to, i'll just tilt it backwards more on the center stand and rear wheel then on the cinderblock.
but yeah, motor was the first thing ready so I went with that. (from painting)
