ignore me, I am stupid ):

There are 3 types. 2 types fit the larger tank. The third type only fits the 89-2000 models.
I have to check if I have any extras. A couple are allocated for the bike builds.
The Euro/Canadian ones are a little higher than the 1989 model. I have each on my bikes. The Euro/Canadian ones are more comfortable for long rides due to being a little higher. However, if you change rear sets and change the seat, you can find any of them OK. It is all personal preference and comfort.

See! They work just fine with fairings.

Adidas,

OK, thank you and I'll wait to hear back from you. Also, thanks for clearing up the difference between type 1 & type 2.

Please let me know what you have :thumb:

If you fit 89 clip on's on a 04+ bike, there is a 10 degree bend you have to put in in the bar to get it to clear everything.
Cool.

No. No bend needed.
It does get tight on a hard right turn (can pinch the thumb) but doesn't hit the tank.

You guys are teasing me, who has a set they are willing to sell :icon_question:

ghostrider_23

Adidas,

did you come by a set or think you have a set. I checked ebay but came up short

cobalta70

I picked up a full set from Ebay a month or so ago for a decent price, so they do come up for sale there from time to time. The key is to not include 'clip-ons' in your search string, as chances are pretty good that they will not be listed as that.

If you are not worried about international shipping, there looks to be a full set listed at the moment in the UK:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUZUKI-GS-500-YOKE-TOP-UPPER-/300619629603?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item45fe538423

Those are the shorter Euro ones. I believe that the same seller has the taller ones too.

ghostrider_23

Cool thanks I just emailed him to get a price to ship. I went with the tall ones since my bike is a 2009

adidasguy

I hope by tall you mean #2.
#1 is rare. #2 and #3 are common in Europe are are the short and tall ones. They are common because they were sold through year 2000.
#1 was ONLY sold in 1989 and is rarely ever seen in Europe as #2 and #3 were available for 11 years.

Remember the 3 sizes:
#1 the 1989 model: the shortest, shim to fit a 2009 tank (parts figure 41)
#2: The "short" European ones. These fit every bike  (Fig. 41A)
#3: The tall Euro ones: won't fit a 2009.   (Fig 41B)

Didn't I mention that? See the thread in the main area on fitting the clip-ons. http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58539.0
There is another thread where I posted the parts catalog pages as found in Europe (41A and 41B do not show in USA parts catalogs as they were not sold in the USA)
http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58525.0

Left one: TALL - you don't want it.
Right one: Short - that fits any GS500

Here - LEFT - OK.  Right: Tall and not OK

Short ones have L and R on the top part (you can see the "L"). Tall ones have L and R in the middle of the raiser part.

Thanks I bought them. I spoke with Adidas and he confirmed they will fit and they are also pretty rare, so that's good. I hope I like them.

Anyway, thanks for the link  :thumb:

Glad I could help.   :)

Got some for sale.

Since I didn't know what at first was wrong with Trey, I found a really good head with calves, cams, etc. ready to bolt on. Picked up a few other things like the old dual ignition pickup & stuff as extra spares just in case.

So also picked up the triple and bars (here I go again, starting another fight with mr Ninja) which are the 1989 OEM CLIP-ONs. One bar is really bent but I have more at home or use aftermarket bars or straighten it. The top plate and clips do need cleaning, but here they are. I have another set at home for Phenix so I will sell this set. read other thread on fitment if you want to put them on a 2001+ with the larger tank. It will work.

FOR SALE: 1989 clip-on set with a bent bar (but can send you another one if you want it)
includes complete triple (haven't check bearings) but a triple is GREAT for holding forks in a vice while you change springs or seals.

Might as well sell this one rather than take it home. Make good offer. Shipping probably about $15-$20 due to weight. If you don't want the triple, I can take the top plate off and toss the triple.

I'll close office next week so can ship Monday at the latest, or after Christmas.

OK, no offers so let's say $60 for all, as is, plus shipping.
