i believe in "K.I.S.S" and use a white bandana around my nose and mouth and it protects the neck from wind as well lol
also i always ride with my hoody so i just put it over my head before i put my helmet on reduces noise and keeps me worm

I have one of the neoprene masks you were talking about I use it mainly around my neck. I can't stand anything over my mouth have a hard enough time breathing and it makes it worse for some reason. Esp, when I was an EMT I hated the N-95 masks could not wait until that call was over. Cyclegear.com has some good stuff too. I never really have worried about fit of the helmet if its not over the top of my head no problems with fit. My seven zero seven came with a chin skirt and it helps alot. I also have a thin balacalva that I got from the local dealership for $7 by River Road. I'm in Florida so rarely need anything.
