End of Carb Issues (sort of)

Well, even after a thorough cleaning it still didn't run right and I developed a gas leak. I've had my fill of trying to fix it and I'm going to take it to a reputable Suzuki dealer near me and pay the $180 they're going to charge me to clean and adjust the carbs. That's with the whole bike not just the carbs. That way I can ride it home. I hate giving up but I just can't handle the heartache anymore.

wasnt following your problem thread, so im not sure if it was an issue or not.
but remember to remind them to check the petcock out too.
in fact, anything else you think they might overlook.. hoses etc anything u want a 2nd set of eyes to look over.

simply because, I ran into what I thought was a carb problem early/mid season.
paid $250 to have the carbs cleaned, rebuilt with my purchased parts and adjusted.
but all I took it there for was to be "Diagnosed"
they did the work without even finding the problem or asking to do it.
but also messed the carbs up by losing the tiny O rings on top.....

afterwards I found the problem on my own and with help from here and a local GS rider.

I simply needed to replace the petcock, which I did for a measily $50!!

there was no issues with the carbs.....

So just make sure to get on their butts and tell them not to be stupid like the garage i took mine to was.

Well the guy I spoke to said he's worked on hundreds of the GS500's so hopefully it will not be a problem.

Nothing wrong with handing it over to a professional, though my current job may make me biased   :laugh:  Sometimes it is worth spending some money to save yourself a headache.  There are certain jobs I will sub out to other mechanics in the shop.  Forming metal brake lines is one of those jobs.  I suck at it to begin with, get frustrated and pissed off when I do it, and the end result looks very amateurish. I would much rather let someone more skilled handle that job!

On another note, I'm not trying to be a duck by saying this but is there a reason you keep starting different threads instead of just posting in the ones you already have about the same topic??

No need to delete old threads, just don't start new ones all the time when you're still talking about the same issue. This way, your progress can be followed without needing to jump between threads.  :thumb:

No need to delete old threads, just don't start new ones all the time when you're still talking about the same issue. This way, your progress can be followed without needing to jump between threads.  :thumb:

What was the symptoms of your bad petcock? Did you replace with OEM, or one from a CRF 250X?

i bought mine with issues and knew it was gonna take some wrenching to get her running right.  sort of a winter project......best part about it, i have 3 other bikes in the garage to take my mind off this one. :icon_mrgreen:
