Scorpion Clubman Bars - took a while to fit & adjust but once you get them in the right position (for you) they feel great

3M Carbon on the back-fill plate

Flush-mount repeaters front and rear - have been undecided on these for a few weeks but saw another yellow GSF on Facebook and made my mind up

Also a bit of de-stickering in preparation for some repairs & paint

I think your Clubman's are installed upside down?

Put Trey back together and gave him 2 new spark plugs. Synced the carbs. Adjusted fuel to 2-3/4 turns out. Took him for a ride.  :woohoo:
Not perfect yet, but runs better than before. Next week when I put the original, cleaned & adjusted carbs back on he should be really good.

I think they are installed exactly how i like them.
Bear in mind that clearance to the fairing and tank will also dictate where they can be installed.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of Clubman's? It's just that I have never seen them used upside down like you have them, if they do what you want then PaRtY On!

The fairing - I don't they would fit the other way. Fairing would be in the way.
If they are how he likes them - isn't that what customizing our bikes is all about? There is no right or wrong if that's how he likes them.
Now to take Trey for a rainy ride to the gym to make him feel loved. Next week he gets his original carbs back. I can check the float levels (like others suggested dount) with a tube - in the kitchen where it is warm. Then upgrade the jets this week.

Nope definitely wont fit the other way - had a look on google images and it seems there are 720 different ways of mounting them  :thumb:
With the std bars, I am sitting almost bolt upright and its really hard for me to tuck my arms in (I'm pretty tall)
With the clubmans, they are further forward, further down and angled further in - feels much better to ride

Trey got his new American made Stainless Steel chain guard after I got him running and put back together. (See the for sale section to order a chain guard) I made it the same height as stock so I will mount AirBrush's rear hugger this week with no problems.

Damned intermittent spark plug  :flipoff:  >:(  Plug was clean - internal breakdown of the spark plug. Can't complain because I learned a lot tearing into him. He IS my LEARNING bike. He got a MosFGet regulator and LiFe battery - which never did give up after all our attempts at starting him. Replaced O ring in tank fuel valve - there was a slow drip.

Now I can devote my time to Phenix and rebuild Trey's engine in the spring. He needs it, but I just wanted him running again until it gets warmer.

The IV fuel tank really made things easier to work on. Holds 1/2 gal of gas. Carb sync hanging next to it.

Over the last couple of days gave the bike it's first real "at home" service. Gave the battery a nice charge as it's been a bit down on amps recently. Cleaned chain thoroughly, gave it a real good oiling and adjusted the tension. Changed oil and oil filter. OK, what dumbo specified those tiny little fastners on the oil-filter housing? I was on tenderhooks tightening them! Glad I bought a new compression washer for the sump plug. But what a bugger it was, getting the old one off. All a bit boring, I know, but it's the first time I've really done any proper spanner work on the machine. Off for a run this weekend if the weather stays OK (the Sydney Australia Summer has been just wet so far, yuk!)

Just bought my first bike a few weeks ago...haven't done much.

Decided to take the day off work yesterday and did this....here she is from the day I got her and onwards.....sorry for the crappy fotos....

Plan on adding this:

Just need to get someone to press the stem and make a spacer for me....I messaged a member on here about it, but I doubt he checks up often.

I've got all winter to work on the bike....gonna strip it further, prime and paint the frame black....I'll probably make a project post on this....won't be anything too spectacular since I don't have the fabrication experience....but I guess this is the best time to learn...

Got a new $2 holder for my rego label and put it on, together with the new Label - GS500

For the Honda 919, I got it recomplianced so I could legally take a pillion - PO had is Modded to be solo, still had the two up seat but no pegs, I changed all that. Now my wife can ride with me  :woohoo:

Bought a set of Ventura throw-over-the-saddle pannier bags from Action out at Parramatta. Good price. Fit nice and high -  up above the pipe. Action have really got their act together over the last year or so in terms of service and stock.

Did the 48,000 service on the GS. Very odd, but the oil Had evidence of some water having been in it. My oil cap is always secure - in garage at home, in work parking lot under security camera at work. I am wondering if someone at work put some water in the oil (thinking it was radiator) as a joke or something. Strange one that.

Exhaust valves needed adjustment. All better now. Noticed the front wheel bearing is starting to show signs of needing to be replaced. Too many bumpy roads me thinks  ;)

The oil I was using Motul 300v has gone too high in price. So have put Mobile 1 in it this time. Ridden 70 clicks and so far I am very impressed with it. Gear changes smooth, no clunks. All good  :thumb:

@noworries - got pics of them on your bike?

Well today was kinda big I've replaced my worn out clutch with Barnett steel plates and ebc discs with heavy duty springs. Replaced the rotor seal and thrust bearing too. With my Haynes manual by my side and the YouTube clip on clutch replacement had the whole thing done in half hour. Mind u had my fibre plates soaking in oil all day. And tommorow I'll be rebuilding my front brakes and master cylinder.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Have you been working close to home lately? I know that if you do short runs on your bike it can leave water in your oil. It is caused by condensation in the crankcase from the engine cooling in hot, humid environment. Usually it boils off when you run your bike but it needs long trips to do this.

On a side note Supercheap have Penrite fully synthetic oil 10w-40w that says on the back it is ok for wet clutch bikes for $54. I am running it in my Duc at the moment and can't fault it.

I generally don't bother with short trips on it. For the last couple of months my commute has varied between a tad under 25 clicks and around 45 - depending where I've been working. And it's obviously gone through quite a few heat cycles to get that streaky look. Just darn puzzling cause it's the first time it has happened. Oh well, we'll see in another 6,000 how she looks ;)

Penrite. Yeah been using it my car for years. Great stuff in cars.
