This is condensation, not smoke. I just thought I'd offer this video to show what condensation looks like versus real smoke. I've heard a few people asking about it. Well, here it is.

I get that sometimes, normally after about a min or two it stops. Not nearly as heavy either. it can look blue sometimes, but I think that's the carbon in the exhaust

If it's blue it's oil residue in the cylinders/pipes burning off as the motor starts up.

In the video it has a slightly blueish tint, however it was indeed pure white and not at all blue.

As a side note, anybody hear that knocking/klanking sound right after I shut off the choke? What the hell IS that? I keep hearing it every once in a while and it's driving me nuts!

Only thing "I" know that could cause that is valve shims need to be checked.. but i'm a newb. lol

To me it sounds like pre-ignition or "knocking". I'm not exactly sure though. Maybe somebody will come along and offer some advice.

Ok... be good to your mother. Put on new fresh clean underwear daily. Wash your hands after going to the toilet, even after doing wee wee, even if you didn't splash - more than three shakes is a pull. Don't pick your nose while driving. If you love your woman then tell her Daily 

Maybe a lil cam float end noise. (Search it on here to find out more)

Check your valves. Post up another video choke off, bike warmed up. If you rev the engine, the noise should increase in speed, but decrease in volume.

That is quite a bit of water. Mine does that, especially in the cold weather after sitting over night. That must be it, I always thought it was a valve seal, and couldn't figure out why it didn't occur when it was hot out.
and another thing- It seems to be related to using the choke, maybe the enrichment system gets water buildup while sitting? who knows.

oh yeah, if you stick your hand in to feel the wetness, it will be wet...

and your hand will smell like acrid poo smoke for the rest of the day.

the knocking sounds like the idle is too low = piston slap.

it's worse when the bike isn't fully warmed, the oil is still thick/slow, the parts haven't all warmed up and expanded as much as possible, and the lower idle means more slap. if you notice it should disappear if you give it a small (+500-900) rpms.

20w50 and a colllld morning would make mine rattle like that right off choke. once the bike was fully warmed it would idle nicely and quietly, well, for a gs.

a thumper like my drz will really make a clatter if you try to lug the engine on a slow climb. wet clutches were made to take the abuse, so i dish it accordingly.

Idle when completely warm is about 1350. When it's not, it hovers right above 1k.

I've heard it make the noise after completely warmed up (15 minute ride after leaving it to warm up for about 5 mins). Interestingly enough, it seems like it only does it right after starting up. I noticed when I started the bike this morning after stopping to get a pack of smokes, the oil light went out then came back on for a split second right after I started it. While this happened, it began making that sound and then stopped. Normal? I don't know.

Also, the noise goes away while rolling the throttle, but then as soon as you let off, it starts up. So only when the motor is revving down it makes it, is not audible if any amount of throttle is being applied.

And again...it doesn't always do it. Only sometimes.

I was tempted to start on checking the valves this morning but it was about to start raining so I decided not to.
