Nice photo.
However.....
I'm not too sure what they are trying to sell. The wording in the ad is not clear  :dunno_white:

Paulcet

Yeah, that's a weird add.  So kidsixteen:  are you connected with the publisher or manufacturer or ad company?  'Cause surely SOMEONE could find a pic of a newer bike!

Yeah.. I'm the Senior Copywriter for the company that owns that brand.

It's a dealer facing ad, not a consumer facing one.. The aim for those is more often brand recognition and directing potential dealers toward the website. Consumer ads sell the product, dealer ads sell selling the product. If that makes any sense.

Also, the GS was a perfect fit because the mag this ad's in isn't sportbike/cruiser/tourer/whetver specfic.. A new-ish UJM is pretty much relatable to anybody who rides a motorcycle.. if it was for Sport Rider or something I would have used my Ducati ;)

You got any photos of your 900ss?

So i guess, "He bought it from YOU!" gets repetitive?  "He stole it from your customer" does seem a little mean spirited.

As for your bike... during the photoshoot, did it get its own trailer?

Ah, it's a theft protection system. So "stole it" is the right phrase.

My quibble is over a different reason: If someone stole a bike from my customer, wouldn't I expect him to come back and buy a new bike with his insurance money? That's 2 sales for me. This tagline might make me want to forget about installing *any* anti-theft in bikes out the door. Better would be to invoke how this add-on's going to line my pocket with mo' money, or make my customers even happier with me (this stuff's in the smaller print at the bottom.)

Weigh that against the up-sell during F&I, lower risks and easier loss recovery for buy here, pay here / in-house financing dealers, a high margin, low cost product in the parts department and installation revenue in your service department..

It's not likely that new bike sales paid for by theft-based insurance money can offset that. If it could, it'd be a LOT of theft.. and you'd be a huge duck for not helping your customers avoid it.

The one we did with the Softail in the inside back over of that mag is directed more obviously toward the parts department. Mid-book full-pagers tend to be more about taglines and sensationalism than the direct appeal usually found in cover spots.

Personally I like the half naked girl ads that go in consumer mags. Tried and true works for a reason :P

Oh yea the 1/2 naked girl, italian actress, no where near 1/2 naked though and 1000% gorgeous in a starved 3rd world kind of way ... wearing a sequinned dress sitting side saddle on a ducati panigale on the right side of the bike, like y'know, we usually sit on a bike ... yea ... gorgeous and completely pointless ... to the point of being counter pointed if it is even a proper term. Pointless to the point of being intervening if you wanna see the bike. Some like that.

The new issue of sport rider has its press intro.

Cool.

Hyper busy dude! I totally need to though! Music is going really really well right now, so most of my time outside of work is spent in the studio or playing shows or whatever.. (opened for the #9 ranked DJ in the WORLD last thursday!! :woohoo: )

Gonna be doing an engine swap this weekend for my 'fighter GS so I can start the track bike build's motor and have it done when track season comes back..

Maybe after that we'll all go for a run or ten.. Malibu is close to home, Ortega's close to work.. I can do wherever.

The loss recovery I can totally see, but that's a different ad than this one. ... I think that's actually a stronger value prop than the consumer model, but your company would know best what sells.

You need a half nekkid girl on there. The tagline is:
"You like this girl?"

Her boyfriend just stole your bike while you were distracted!"

Usually the loss recovery is an in house financier trying to repo a bike from a non-paying customer. Half the time the consumer doesn't even know it's there.
