So it seems to me that there are alot of engineers or engineers in training on this board, or is it my imagination?  So what do you guys all do for a living?  Just curious and I'm bored.

I'll go first.
Instructor
University of Pittsburgh
Primarily I teach Anatomy and Physiology at the School of Nursing. ( I know I know it's a rough job)

Sometimes I moonlight at the local Community College and also down at Duquesne Univ. teaching Biology.

In my spare time I sometimes ride my bike or help my father in law build his house.

used to work shipping and recieving, and parts counter at a local motorcycle shop here in minneapolis.  now, i'm unemployed and spending most my time with school.  as long as my loans hold out a bit longer, and i find another job soon, it should be ok.

I'm a student at San Jose State majoring in Industrial Technology: Manufacturing Systems.  minor is business management

I currently work at a CNC/manual machine shop.  Its all contract work.

I'm having an internal dilemma or sorts because I enjoy my classes but I'm almost enjoying the shop more.  I still want my degree because enventually I think I'll want a desk job or something with less potential hearing damage (some of us wear ear plugs on the job).

What is a sparky?  Is that a name for welders?  Welding is something else I'd really like learn more of.  The local JC has some welding classes I've considered taking more for fun than anything.

Sparky is an electrician, I think knuckledragger is mechanic(ie. carrying a big wrench so that they are dragging knuckles), I'm sure there are more but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

How far are you into school?  I'd say keep at the books, but keep working in the shop if you can.  Hopefully you could still work there full time when you get done with school, then move on to whatever you want next.
