We need to end this thread.

Old chain: Replace it. Cut it off - it is junk.

New chain: Will have master link. Decide which type you want.

Sprockets: Should replace those, too.

(Used OEM chains can be bought but why? Need to remove swing arm to get it on. New chain about same price.)

Just wanted to say that today me and my dad (mostly him) installed the new chain and sprocket set.

Took WAY longer that it should have, about 5 hours (2 of which were driving to some dealerships because one of the sprocket mounting hub..screw...things was...i can't think of the word but the screw wouldn't go all the way on so the guy at the dealership had to use a tool to cut all the crap out of the screw.

Also, had some trouble removing and reinstalling the swingarm, which we later found out was pointless because my dad didn't know the new chain had a masterlink.

Also, the service manual specifically says "Do not use a masterlink chain". why?

Because Suzuki doesn't (or didn't) sell masterlink chains.

They are as safe as any other chain.
