Couple of questions for Flick!

So, Flick is doing relatively well!

I've got to get some new fuel lines. I will not buy stock ones anymore. Since, Nov I've gone through two whole sets and these are dry and ripping already. Flick has been in the garage and no reason for degraded lines!

The other thing is after riding for sometime. Occasionally Flick's idle will hang around 2.8k to 3k I let the clutch out a little and he calms right down and is fine. I'm just paranoid at this point.

You can go to Kissimmee Power Sports, I think they carry some clear fuel lines that a friend of mine used on his bike. he put about 5k miles on it without problems, and his bike sat outside like mine.

PS: there are two stores actually. Only one shows up on GPS, but the one I'm talking about is on john young.

I wouldn't worry about the idle itself, but I'd wait for someone else to get on and say other wise. I can only help with the fuel lines.

My Suzuki dealer uses MotionPro fuel lines. They don't kink up when you bend them.

How many miles do you have on Flick now?  Is it possible that it's time for a valve clearance check?   Just throwing things out there.  Seems like you drive him often enough, it shouldn't be a carb issue.

if memory serves me correct, she did a top end rebuild not that long ago, I think the valve clearance should be fine.

Recent encounters with Trey have shown me the air box is a pain in the ass to put back on correctly. Trey's was never on right and suffered hanging idle until I fixed everything. Check the fitting. Easiest to do it by reaching your hand in through the air filter hole. You can push the rubber boot out and around the carb intake.

(ASS is not filtered! co.ck is as in fuel chicken and so is pe.nis as in pee pee. Seems the profanity filter has difficulty with male sexuality but loves a woman's ass  :cookoo: )

why dont we use stainless steel brale lines and just thread the nipples so that they just spin on and off?

If it can hold up to brake fluid, it must hold us to gas

I use the motionpro fuel line, the 5/16" one, and I can't complain. The lines turned yellow after a few months, but no cracking or otherwise bad performance. It's not too bad price wise:

Just make sure to use the shield that came with the stock line to keep the sun off of the tubing.

My MotionPro is the gray stuff. My dealer doesn't use the clear.

Hi mary does this hanging idle happen on a hot day and maybe after a bit of town riding??

ohgood

Yellow weed eater tubing for me. Because its "custom".

Mary the hanging idle is something I would find and fix (vacuum leak) before it annoys you.

I'm betting is right about the airbox or something not sealing. Or, since its florida, a worn out trottle cable.

That hanging idle may be a shade lean, open air screw 1/8th ... and you may have more in winter than in summer, is it humid year round ? if so, yea you'd likely have to do that 1/8th to 1/4 turn winter to summer and back.

Fuel line - I used to buy big roll of tygon or silicone etc from fleabay, but now I cant find my stash.
Cool.

Yes, this is mainly around town that it occurs. Not this Friday but the next (pay day) I'll grab some new fuel hoses. Then going to go over everything. Make sure the carbs are synched double check for leaks etc. I'm pretty sure I'm running a little lean. I went back to stock jetting during the rebuild. I noticed the jets that the Buddha had given aren't what the wiki says. I also have the K&N drop in. So, I will probably grab a jet kit (so that I have everything) and see what works best for Flick. Yes, it is always humid here! 80 by the weekend. I wanna go on a long ride on Saturday :D Oh yeah, I just finished the 1,000 mile break in period but I haven't taken Flick above 6,000 RPM yet. I have to get my own caliper for future checks as well.
