I Saw the guide we have for putting in an Accessory Power Outlet but for people like me who forget to unplug things, this will result in many a flat battery! This guide is for putting an Accessory Power Outlet but switched on and off with the ignition so when the bike is off, your outlet it off and when the bike is on, your outlet is on!  This can be applied to most bike but pictures are showing my GS500F.

You will need (items in bold are optional):

-12v Power Outlet ([http://www.amazon.com/Pico-0921pt-Volt-Power-Socket/dp/B001QRW5SG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_3)
-12v Relay (http://www.amazon.com/Absolute-RLS125-12-VCD-Automotive-Relay/dp/B0002KR9GG)
-12v Relay Base (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ZPUMG/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=1278548962&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0002KR9GG&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1Y6SR0N130KY9QH53RTN)
-Decent Gauge Wire
-Ring Terminals (http://www.amazon.com/Stinger-Gauge-Crimp-Style-Terminal/dp/B001H50WXC/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329629379&sr=1-4)
-Wire Strippers (http://www.amazon.com/Paladin-Tools-1118-Stripper-Cutter/dp/B0006BHHDQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329629498&sr=1-4)
-Soldering Iron (http://www.amazon.com/PENCIL-SOLDERING-SODERING-SODDERING-WELDING/dp/B004BU9FT2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329629530&sr=1-1)
-Multimeter (http://www.amazon.com/SE-Digital-Multimeter-Light-Screen/dp/B0019N6FR4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329629751&sr=1-1)

Once you have everything gathered, you are going to want to locate your Tail Light Power Plug,

This is located on the LEFT HAND SIDE of the bike, just behind the rear piece of fairing on the LEFT HAND SIDE. It's a 3 pin plug with White, Brown and Black wires leading to it. You are going to want to unplug it and locate the SWITCHED Positive and Ground.

At this point we are going to remove a small section of insulation from the BROWN (Switched +) and BLACK (Ground) wires so we can solder our relay (I'm not going to explain how to wire up a relay but there is a fantastic guide right here http://www.mp3car.com/the-faq-emporium/117895-faq-relays-how-they-work-and-how-to-wire-it-up.html).

Before we solder everything first, test out your circuit to make sure that the power comes on only when the ignition is set to on.

Now, once confirmed working we can get to work soldering everything, crimping our terminaly onto the 12v + and - (Refer to relay guide) and tidying the wiring up (I Chose cable ties)

And Voila! You have a 12v Power outlet that wont flatten your battery if you leave something plugged in!
