n00b here.  I went to look at a GS out in Blooming Prairie but it was in bad shape, especially considering the price.  Anyway, I've only found one other GS in the state for sale and it already sold.  Where could I get one?  This will be my first bike and I want the GS to be it!

hey man, i live in minneapolis and just checked around all the motorcycle shops in the city and found a couple back when i got mine 2 years ago.  i've havn't seen any around lately though.    however, i know that the shop i used to work at has a new gs500f sitting on the showroom floor, if that's an option.  i'll be out biking around this weekend and can stop in some shops to check if they have one if you'd like, i feel like going to look at bikes anyway.

Cycletrader shows 2 in Madison (maybe a bit overpriced), and 3 in and around Milwaukee (Sussex, Big Bend).  One of those isn't too overpriced:

You might check with sprint_9 on this forum.  He was selling a GS, and was willing to bring it up to Mankato to show (he's from Iowa).

You might post a query on the MN_Sportbike group (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/MN-Sportbike/)  They have a few members who ride GS500s.

I checked out that 95 in big bend, its rusty and didnt run quite right, probably worth $1200 at most, not $1999.  It looks like that engelhart place in madison is asking 1k more than they should be for the three bikes they have.  I almost went to look at those purple bikes a while ago, but I didnt have time.

Sussex is real close to my parents, I would say a 4hr?? drive to the twin cities.  I will be home for a short time this weekend if you would like me to take a look at it, but I am a new GS owner and wouldn't know everything to look for.  Nevertheless I could give it a good once over, listen to it run and maybe take it for a test ride :mrgreen: assuming it's not raining like the forcast says it will be.   Just let me know.

Hey, Thanks for the plug Rema.  I should know within a couple of weeks if I'll be selling my bike for sure. I found another bike to buy but my parents insist that I should invest in a newer car, and keep the bike I have for now. I'll PM you if anything develops.

Engelhart thinks their used bikes are made of gold. I stupidly bought my GS from them, and paid more than I should have because it came with a 30 day warranty---which they didn't even honor. Jerks. They won't see another penny of my money.  :x

manofthefield - that'd be awesome if you could check that bike out for me.  Do you have a digital camera that you could take some more pics of?  They didn't list the mileage, either so I'd be interested in finding that out (although I can and probably will simply call and find out).  Let me know when you check it out.  Thanks a lot!

At this time I am leaning toward keeping my bike and buying a car. Sorry for any confusion.
