I've got the hero 2 also.

It's awesome.

I've got a mount on the rhs of my helmet at eye level. And another at the base of my windscreen.
The suction cup also works a treat on the windscreen and on the tank which gives a great view of the instruments and through the windscreen

Hero2 is crap. Here's why:

No view finder, laser, or anything for alignment unless you spend another $200 for the backpack.

Field of view is crap, unless you shoot 1080, and was advertised as a 90/127/170 degrees FOV device. They even tried to fix it with a firmware update, failed.

WIDE angle means too much fish eye in every video. Ugh.

Still no remote.

Short battery life, and its proprietary. AA's would have rocked.

It does shoot clear, higher fps video though. And the enclosure is tough !

For more angles, juust stop and reposition:

I got the LCD bacpac.
It is very useful and makes it much more versatile

Mine shoots all those fov's and why wouldnt you want to use 1080p?
What am I not understanding?

I kinda like the fisheye a little.

Look at the fov perspectives of some of the other cams. The resolution is great on the gopro, but the fish eye distracts and distorts. If it doesn't bother you, understood. After using (and editing) gopro videos for a little while its annoying that pulling one frame for a blown up still (print) will look odd.

I've pulled stills from other 1080/720 sources and they work grrrreat.

I also have a Hero2, its a great addition to my cam quiver.  Granted its not made to be able to shoot ever angle possible. It was made as a POV cam and it does an insanely good job at it!! My friend also picked one up as well. With 2 hero2's and 2 canon t2i's we will be making some cool edits when we get our ass in gear :thumb:

I have shot and edited gopro1 footage for around a year before i bought the hero2. The second added so many good quality additions it was mind blowing.

LCD bacpac is $80 and includes new case backs for the waterproof housing

i also am not sure what you mean here. i can record any FOV in 1080 or 720

WIDE angle means too much fish eye in every video. Ugh.
nahhh, if you are trying to setup a static shot it clearly won't be the cam you need. at the same time you can't buy a cam that does both wide and non wide angle w/o buying a extremly expensive dslr with mulitple lens(you will spend WELL over $300, trust me i'm already half way down the path of buying ridiculously expensive lenses haha.

Still no remote.
they are working on it, but its no necessary when you are using the cam as a POV cam(it will always be in arms reach)

Short battery life, and its proprietary. AA's would have rocked.
definitely dissagree here, i have been filming the hero2 all season in fridge temps. with the new built in battery warmer it really improved cold weather battery life.  Also back up batterys are cheap, i bought this- its a rapid wall charger with 2 spare batteries for $22

It does shoot clear, higher fps video though. And the enclosure is tough !
agreed here!!

I have been building my gropro up a bit(will get a photo sometime) i have put the SnakeRiver Blurfix on it. This housing was made to help correct underwater focusing, but it also helps focus in lower light situations(night boarding on the slopes look 10X better with this housing compared to my friends hero2 with no blurfix housing.  The main reason i bought the Blurfix was the additional use of filters. i have the stock UV, a neutral density, and polarizing filter. filters really help, and each have their own purpose. also with the blurfix you can buy a 55mm lens cap to protect and keep the lens clean.

As you can see I'm stoked on these units, and feel they are a very good choice of video cam if you are filming mostly action footage.

You can change the field of view while shooting 720p on your hero2 ? Are you certain ? Give it a try and see if you're mistaken. Unless its a very recent model and it has been addressed, this is well a known issue. The website was even listing its capabilities incorrectly during the holiday buying season.

agreed with the wide/non wide... but it was listed as 90/127/170, in all resolution modes. If yours finally is, wahoo, I'm going to ask for a replacement. Mine, and the few million or so bought Q4 2011 are not.

The listed LCD price was last years' thanks for that fix !

Also, since you said it shoots all POV in all resolutions, it makes me wonder if yours has an updated firmware or pcb even moreso when you mentioed the batter life was good. Mine is exhasted after 45-60 minutes of shooting 720/60. I've seen other people with even shorter battery life, while others claim 4-5 hours.

I've gotten 2 hours + battery / shooting life from the battery many many times. Maybe you got a dud  :dunno_black:

Oh, you knew it had now viewfinder when you bought it. Don't whine about it After the fact.

seems slips right about the FOV. most resolutions only have wide option.

theres nothing wrong with shooting in 1080p though is there?

my battery easily last 2 hours.

when i went to get my exhaust done at unsanes house i filmed all the way there, a bit at his place and all the way back. 2.5hours and it was still going

just a little update, i was messing with the cam last weekend before hitting the slopes.

Mine too does NOT record in all FOV's in 720p. i had never realized since i mainly use the gopro for follow cam'ing and wanted the biggest 170* fov.

sorry for the incorrect info!!!
