Tomb, wish I lived closer.  I'd ask you to let me mess around with it and you take a break.  I mean with carb cleaner, you should get a burble, putt, something,...?  (if you have spark)  I was going to say, are you sure you have good vacuum (?) but with carb cleaner, it should pop.  I don't think it is the carb cleaning that's causing you problems.  Check everything and make sure you connected everything?  Just asking,..I'm sure about now a question like that is infuriating.

Does fuel flow freely from the line going to the carb with it in the prime position?  It has to be something minor you are overlooking at this point, don't drive yourself crazy finding it!!

ben2go

Is the fuel cap venting properly?Sounds like the tank is air locked.Try fueling the carbs with the fuel cap open.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

Yes I do feel like that Cbr, except its my foot against the bike lol

Fuel is in every single nook and cranny of the fuel lines.
and I do not have the POS stock petcock anymore.
that POS cost me a wasted $250 garage visit that couldnt even locate the problem lol

I got the one Ben2go has a thread on that has been working Great and isnt the problem.
I checked that out and blew air thru it which went through just fine.
It has no vacuum port, just On Off and Res.

One thing also has my attention a bit.
which makes me think the tanks petcock might be causing problems.
now and then I would hear it Gurgle as the fuel flows into the lines.
but that is after the lines have fuel and after I have been cranking it.

choke is on and throttle wide open or closed does nothing either.

but once again, when I blow air thru the lines with the carb drains open, fuel starts to drip out.
Drip, not flow...

this would be easier if I wasnt stuck working on it outside >< UGH!

screw it, im in a ticked off motivated mood now.
I want this sucker DONE!
time to go out and fiddle some more until I get chilly.

(edit)
thanks Ben.
I will do just that right now.
I think if its that simple, I will literally fall to the ground laughing.

(edit)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
aww man was I laughing too......
Yep, Ben wins the prize!
I opened the gas tanks cap, cranked it a few times.
Then checked the carb drains, they were free flowin gas <3
Few tries the wench started right up  :thumb:

Starts but still not 100% yet.
hopefully all I have to do is adjust the throttle and maybe the mixture screws again to get it going properly.
clutch cable also has to be adjusted, too much freeplay.

acted normal in the warm up procedure, choke, RPMs etc.
Idle was fine until I went to try and go around the yard once to see how it was in motion.
after that it wanted to play games.
give it throttle and it would die.

all good for now tho!

GREATLY appreciate it Ben!  :thumb:

(edit)
i appreciate all the help, its just that Ben was spot on :)

(edit)
not being negative but that was a pretty short lived high.
I am quite doubtful its going to run "Correctly" tomorrow, even after adjustments.
It can start and run all she wants but its useless if it cannot be ridden.

This was pretty much the last straw.
Rides or Dies.
Im starting to save up for a Working SV650.

Honestly, I just dont trust the POS anymore.
I would sooner take my 02 grand am with 197K miles on it to Pitt and NC before this bike right now.
Only so much hassle a man can take...
No matter how much $$ I've thrown at it

rant off! hahaha

Okay!!!
Enough Despair from me!
I apologize, its just been nonstop and just too much with life problems lately.

But....
SWEET F'IN VICTORY!!   :thumb:

Adjusted the mix screws to 2.75 out now.
it was at 3 when it was rich but it wasnt mainly because of that or the jets.
and 2.5 didnt seem like enough.
Checked the plugs again since I actually had it running awhile last night....
No longer black and lookin as they should.

adjusted the throttle (was no freeplay at all, aka too tight)
adjusted the clutch as it had too much freeplay (halfway pulled in was all slack)

Put everything back on but this time Bolted down for the very last time, win or lose!
vs before I just sat things on the bike when I had to take it off again.

started right up but bolted up in the RPMs.
adjusted idle screw and set choke.
warmed up nicely.
choke off, idled just fine
put the seat on and jumped on the wench.
clutch in, popped her in gear and she still acted normal vs last night she didnt.
went a few yards feathering the clutch.... still normal (getting excited!) haha

hell with it...
let the clutch out and got out of the yard and out the driveway!
went around the block in just a jacket and cigg in my mouth smiling.
opened the sum b!tch up on the one straightaway around my block....... ahhhh SOoooooo nice!

Finally! hard work paid off (knocks on wood)

Now to get cleaned up, put the rear plastics on and go for a long test ride <3

No pics, she is still Filthy!
and no video as I dont have a good enough phone or a web cam for my laptop for this purpose either.. booooo!

ahhh okay enough talk!

(edit)
and the RPMs hang high a bit at times.
but I had that problem before, think its a throttle adjustment or something..
worry later!

Thanks but not out of the woods just yet.

First, gotta clean the gas cap vent and the tanks petcock.
After a little riding, it was acting as if it was fuel starved.

also, its leaking oil by quite a bit.
New engine gaskets tho....
Its leaking from either below the cylinders or above them.
I'll have to rip the engine apart again and check it out but also probably but some liquid gasket on the meeting points for some extra seal.

Def. fun to ride again, even if it was for only like 30 mins.

(edit)
and yes the engine bolts have been retightened a few times after I left the engine warm up a few times.

but yes, when it didnt act fuel starved (which was omw home)
it was like a totally different bike  :thumb:
runs better then it did before, also warmed up quicker even tho I still have to buy 40 pilots.
and Much quicker accel, which is also from the 15T front sprocket.

Gotta repaint the frame around the engine on the inside and outside.
All that engine work scratched it up pretty good.
Its all good tho, it needed more clear on it anyways.

Just a small "to buy" update.

Now that my engine problems have been taken care of. (minus oil leaks ><)
Passion for the bike has come back  :thumb:

Should be getting my income tax deposited tomorrow.
Soon as I do, going to be purchasing....
New rear tire.
About 3 ft of new fuel tubing. (I bought some but not enough last year that is still like new but my Res line is old. also the overfill drain hose under the tank cracked in half)
K&N open air filter, for performance but mostly because there is like No room near the petcock for the one fuel line.  its constantly being pinched and already cracked open twice last year.
Some replacement nuts bolts and screws for various things.
40 pilot jets
Speedo and Tach LEDs.
maybe the gel seat from walmart if I can find it and new seat covering if I can find some.

and maybe some other crap but im not going to go nuts.

oh yeah, and a silver and ruby colored reflective shields for my new helmet  :thumb:

passion = gooood!
I recommend clear line!  I bought some from motion pro with the fiberglass reinforcement in it.  I always used regular black hose before but I REALLY like being able to see that 'yes' there is fuel flowing in there.  Clear filters for me too.
Awesome to see you:

are the fuel lines I bought but not enough of last year.

not sure if they are the same brand and type but visually they are.

wasnt cheap at the dealer either... oh heck no!
reminds me, going to make a thread asking if anyone knows where to get them cheaper online.

I was all over to different hardware stores lookin for new lines last year with Zero luck.
finally just stopped by the dealer for something else and picked up lines there too.
was like $50 for like 3 ft I think.

I got it going from the petcock to the carbs and to both On positions on both petcocks.
also with some extra slack in both.

(edit)
nm on posting a thread asking for those specific lines.
I just searched and found a thread with a link to some tygon lines at only $1.44 a ft.
hmmm yep I got so ripped off at the dealer.....
oh well, I didnt know jack back then. haha

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23487&catid=864
is what I found so far.
whatever I get will be 1/4, same as what I got, has a nice firm hold on the petcocks.

but thats yellow, so I will continue to look for others.

(edit)
found something sweeter and cheaper  :thumb:

and its a clear red to match the bike  :thumb:

UGH what a spending spree!
Pretty much went thru my entire income tax and maybe a little over. haha

hmm lets see.....
grabbed 3 items from the Harbor freight store as I was lucky enough to come across the coupon paper at work Sunday.
Oscillating Multifunctional power tool. for 19.99, regularly 59.99.
Cordless drill for 16.99, reg 29.99
and my fav. a 3 gallon, 100 PSI Air Compressor for only 39.99 reg 79.99

ordered the new head cover gasket and O rings I needed.
along with 3ft of the same fuel line I already have for only 3 bucks incase the red doesnt work.

$250 worth of material for redoing the kitchen, dining and living room floors.

other crap not worth mentioning

and a lil somethin for myself.
digital camera from walmart with an 8GB card.

so now I can finally have some GOOD pics and also be able to take a ton on my vacation riding trip this summer.
Also, I can finally take better pics and a video of my bike.
as long as it has audio with the video recording, about to check that out now.

i'll have a video up when its not dark or raining out.

got back late and I had pizza to eat  :thumb:

(edit)
okay it takes videos with sound alright.
warning tho, dont expect me to be talking, maybe at all in it! hahahahaha
Just did a test to see how it worked and that was the first time hearing my voice since I was like 15 or 16 (now 30!)
and no sir I did not like it! hahahahaha  :cookoo:

Very tidy!!!!  :D

Noticed you had a lot of problems with it. Be it carb related or whatever! I'm surprised I haven't with mine TBH! The inside of the tank is nice and rusty, so after 2k miles I decided to fit fuel filters. Jesus after the first week I noticed rust building up! Still runs like a dream though.

Good job matey.
