hahaha no idea.
thats the first video I've ever uploaded so im not sure if I can even see.

video is public so maybe just some random person GS500 searching and didnt like it.

I dont care, that wasnt the purpose of uploading it.

I'll have it all finished as soon as I get the oil leak fixed and everything I recently ordered is here and installed.
Then I'll repaint the frame around the engine where it got all scratched up and probably redo the sides of the engine in some better paint that wont stain so easily.

Also clean up and polish the muffler.

then another video when im all done  :thumb:

New helmet shields arrived shortly after getting home from work.
Ordered Weds morning, that was some Fast shipping!!

Silver looks sweet.
But the Ruby is more of a pink/purple then Red.
Thought it would be more Red to match the helmet and bike... oh well.

(edit)
just bought 2 more items :)

not sure of the laws here in Pa for reflectors but for some reason, I want some now.
even tho I went all last year without any. (wasnt any when I bought the bike)

07 stock (with mounting hardware vs others that didnt)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130622196564?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

and the long harley ones that I read adidas post about before and look alot better in his pics.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/170773936219?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

and yes, im sure someone has some GS stock reflectors laying around. (only needed the red tho)
but when I want something and its not expensive at all, I dont feel like waiting. hahahaha

Its a very good idea to have reflectors on your bike.  Red in the rear and amber in the front on both sides of the bike.  Its a law requirement where Im from.  You cant get a safety with out them.
Great job.

Yeah I know where to mount them.
Going to put the red ones up a little higher as I've seen somewhere on this site.
Round yellow ones will just be put aside.
I bought the set because it had the mounting material.

and the long harley ones will go on the lower fork tubes like adidas has and has suggested to others that I read awhile ago.

If you wanted to get nutty, Dupli-Color sells reflective paint.

:icon_mrgreen:

hahaha I've had enough of painting.
I am just going to redo the area of the frame around the engine.
touch up the gash in the front fender.
and probably redo the side engine covers with something better that wont get stained so easily as what I have on there now.

after that, soooo done!

Stopped at the harley shop next to my dads.
Its just a tiny private shop.
Asked if they install tires, they nicely do :) (wasnt certain so I had to ask)
owner said he sells tires too after I said I will be down when mine arrives.
Forgot to say I already had it being delivered.
I will when I take it down Monday as I dont want him to think I was going to go buy it elsewhere after I asked and not even ask him what he has or how much.

Got home after running around and the tire is on the front porch  :thumb:

Now to get that bald & painted rear tire replaced Monday

Haven't checked in a while Tomb - sorry! Bikes looking fantastic though. Somebody probably saw your red tire and disliked the video just for that. Who cares anyway?

If you go to Penn DOT's site, there is a PDF with inspection requirements about reflectors. I know you need at least one red facing the rear - not sure about any of the others.

thanks!  :thumb:

Yeah I thought that was pretty obvious about the tire.
Its so bald in the middle, what would be the point of taping it off?

Brand new rear Kenda sitting behind me tho :D
Not the best tire out there but I enjoy the ride more then going buck wild and worrying about how fast or how many twisties I can find and go through.
So I only need a good cruising tire.

Also gotta say that to the bike shop tomorrow too, that I had to get it online as I had to match it to the front tire.
Tho yeah I dont need to explain anything, but a nice private polite shop like that, I like being that way and it ends up being both ways.

hmm not sure where I can place a red rear reflector.
I'll just get some cheap rectangular one from walmart or a bicycle store and glue it somewhere back there.

Still going to put the stock red ones on the rear sides of the seat tho and the harley ones on the lower fork tubes like Adidas has.

I used some of those reflective topped license plates screws to pass inspection on having a red rear reflector.  Cheap and has a purpose too.  I think they were 2 dollars and change at the auto parts store.

(Good advice Tomb to oz by the way, on his project page!   Just wanted to mention that.)

Just a small update.
Nothing as far as work done tho.

New tire is still sittin behind me.
Got my 40 pilot jets.
and my K&N open air filter arrived today when I got home.

Now just waiting on the salvage yard to call when my gaskets arrive.
also need 4 additional things from them now tho.

the bolt snapped on the circled part (one that holds that down)
I put another one in temporarily that works fine but still going to get another one.

but what Might be causing the leak tho.
the other allen head bolt that holds the cover on the area circled wont tighten all the way.
not sure if the bolt is stripped or the socket.
either way, I am replacing both parts.
the bolt and the part that holds the cam shaft down just incase its the top socket that got stripped.

then rear peg hardware, minus the pegs themselves.
(for the reason below)

been too busy lately with a new flame to work on the bike.
even tho I planned to wait until the salvage yard gets the parts.
I could have at least gotten the rear tire put on but I'll get that done soon.

but I need the peg pins etc because the new gf is just Dieing to go for a ride! heehee

knowles

I know how you feel when one thing goes wrong and then another and another and so on. I have just learned to walk away and be done for awhile, i broke a bolt off in the head of my truck engine and had to drill and tap in out while holding a vacuum so the metal filings wouldn't go in the engine, did i mention it was in the middle of winter in Minnesota. but the bike looks good, keep on going,

Tomb, I think the general rule of thumb when replacing the camshaft half moon things is that the head needs replaced as well. Only because your head (and those cam caps) is machined for those camshafts. But I know people have swapped those caps with what's available at the time and have been fine. Not trying to kick ya while you're down, just wanted to make you aware.

And I think those allen head bolts are pretty generic- as in a lot of Suzuki's use them, not just the 500. A quick cross reference on the part number could confirm that.

Oh ya, congrats on the new girlfriend!

If the camshaft journal cap threads are stripped, you could helicoil them instead of getting a new cap.  That way you avoid the issue the Big Rich mentioned.  I had to helicoil one of the head cover bolts, but it was one of the two that thead into the head itself instead of the camshaft journal caps.

thanks on both accounts.

Yeah Cbr is checking to see if hes got extras from the old motor and if so, I will get the part regardless.
Then install it and make sure everything is Ok.

If not, no real big deal.

I still have to take the cover off and see if its the female hole or the bolt thats stipped tho.

I've been waiting until the salvage yard gets my parts in first.

If it doesnt work out, I'll just take the part to a machine shop and have it retreaded or whatever they do in this scenario.
(no experience in that field)

kk time to go see the shop has time for my rear tire to be put on.

(edit)
and I got no idea what that is bomb.
as I said, no experience with retreading sockets etc

so I will just take it to a machine shop and have them do it Right vs me messing it up.

It was my first time using a helicoil on my head.  It wasn't too bad.  Just following the directions.

I can almost gaurantee that you stripped the threads on the cap and not the bolt.  The bolt is steel, and the cap is aluminum.
