I ordered a 1995 GS500E headlight setup which included the fork mounts, ears and headlight from eBay the other day for $55 shipped. I recently received them and decided tonight that I would give the conversion process a go! I ended up painting the ears black as well as the headlight housing.

Install went SO incredibly smooth I am extremely satisfied with the end result. (One complaint: see below) Now I am dying for some daylight to really get a good look and some dry weather to take it for a ride!

My one complaint is that my exhaust pipe is rusted so I need to get a wrap or look into some possible options for cleaning that up. Ideas would be much appreciated!

Wish I would have known that you were going to the naked style I would have tried to do a trade and some cash for the plastics. like the bike but I'm thinking of going to the f style after i do my tail swap.
I have seen gas grill spray paint used on exhaust headers on cars for years, and it looks good if you take your time.

I am holding onto the plastics anyways in the event I decide to do resale some day. Not in any need of money and I have the space so I figured, why sell? Ill have to check out your tail swap if you have a thread going!

I have read about people using high temp paint just havent heard of how it worked for them. Especially along the lines of how durable it is and how long it lasts.

I haven't started it yet going to do a Ducati monster seat and tail, with the newer style tank, going to cut the frame and weld the back half of the ducati frame on the gs right around the battery box also going to do leds all around. going to wait till next winter so i can drive it this season. plus i'll be back in school and can bring it there where they have all the tools and a nice warm space for me to do it. plus instructions that have been welding and cutting on things for 40 years, and a auto mechanic in the next shop.

Now, focus on getting some better springs in the forks, fork oil, braided stainless brake line, and some good rubber and ride the piss out of her!

Must be nice not having all that extra weight over the front end anymore!



I was looking to paint my headlight black, and now that it looks killer, im doing it!

Rutlands Stove Polish on the exhaust. It works, is cheap and simple to do.

Looked so nice with the plastics on.  Just my opinion,..whatever YOU like fh is what matters.  Still, sexy in those first pics,...

I totally agree. I have a naked gs and soooo want an F model cause they look soooo nice.

Your bike wont like the extra 30 lbs hanging over the front tire.

handling is very much improved when you strip all the extra baggage off.

I would NEVER put clothes on my GSE..... I meant I would purchase a fully dressed one and have both.
