Since I'm getting new tires I went ahead and smoked off my old, bald, dry rotted Bridgestone... and a friend took a few shots...

Gettin' started...

Smokin' pretty good...

I could barely see...

Aftermath. Can you see the Miata?

Just thought I'd share, feel free to flame... compliment... whatever.

RE-EDIT: Finally got them to work.

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Yeah, they were down at the photographer's house... (about a 1/4 mile down the road)...

going fast isnt the problem, its the crashing and burning that hurts

I don't thats an issue, while it's not good for it, I simply let out the clutch to break the tires loose... so the clutch was never involved after that.

By the way, I do also have a video of one we did a few min before that in the photographers driveway... I'd have to figure out how to make it digital though. It was fun to get to waste a tire like that.

Also, in case anyone is wondering.. my bike is 100% stock.

Sorry, my advice was more for Luke, just in case.  ;)

Oh okay... my bad. But it is good advice, everyone should keep their clutch in mind when attempting a burn out. Remember the power has to go somewhere... if the tire doesn't spin and the front brake doesn't let the bike move forward, then it has to go somewhere in the drivetrain.

so all you did was rev the engine while pulling the clutch in first? then let go of the clutch and hold on to the front brake while revving? how do you do it!? i want to do it too!
everybody looks sexy on a bike... until they take off their helmet..

luke1645

i had a dirtbike  for about 5 years so you learn how to do you fair share of burnouts. but thanks for the heads up anyways

Just remember to hold yourself off the seat while doing it.  Makes it lots easier to get it spinning and keep it going.

 nice work :thumb:

Now why didn't I think of doing that before my new tires :dunno:

Essentially... yes. Just make sure the rear end is as light as possible, you have plenty of room in front of you, and enough revs to break the tire loose... and any other don't be stupid type stuff.
