At least youre ironing those things out.  You will have a sweet ride.  Keep it up brother, you can do it.

oh I know I will, but thanks  :thumb:

already so much time, sweat, blood, and money into it.
I refuse to give up.

I just either despair from time to time hahaha or get PO'd and sick and tired.

this time tho, its all going back 100%!

gorgeous day out but cant ride.
so im going to change my cars oil, then take the piston rings off and measure them in my old cylinders.
and finish it off with yard work.

hopefully they are within spec.
or else I will be ordering a new set of rings on Friday, even if only 1 piston is out of spec, I will be getting a new set for both.

Hell yeah!  :woohoo:  :thumb:

Just got done with all the work I planned to do.
All sweaty and filthy. hahaha

Good news tho  :thumb:
Piston rings are within spec in my old good cylinders.

Took them out, measured them all.
Then cleaned them and the pistons up nicely.

Now all I have to wait on is the lower cylinder gasket to arrive

No solid idea how the cylinders cbr gave me got scratched now.
Only thing I can think of is when I was putting the cylinders on or taking them off.

going to be VERYYYYYY careful this time and drench the walls even more in oil when I put the cylinders back on.

(edit)
well more bad news but for once  :woohoo: its NOT about the bike! hahaha  :woohoo:

me and the new gf Already broke up.
no idea, just had a Bad night last night together and she backed off.
$h!t happens, oh well... more time to work on the bike, house, and ride!  :thumb:

Ha!

Bummer about the GF - but those sorts of things work themselves out anyway. When is the gasket supposed to be in again? This weekend?

eh it was over as quick as it began, so im not as bothered as I would of been if it went for a long period of time.

and im not sure.
I ordered them on Tuesday.
So based on previous buys, I would say mid next week.
Also if the manufacturer got the O rings in that delayed my previous order.

#9 ones.
they were having trouble finding them or something the dealer said.
so he is hoping to get my gaskets in on the same order if they didnt ship them out yet.

^^ hahahaha

but im also Far from done tho. (when the engine is 100%)

Mechanically it will be done, minus fixing the hanging idle. (carbs are fine, prolly just have to adjust the throttle cable at the carbs)

But then I plan to paint the outer parts of the engine fins that face u red.
Repaint the side covers of the engine in better black paint. (current paint on it is garbage)
Have to touch up 2 spots on the front fender.
Sand down a few layers of the frame around the engine and repaint that. (scratches from engine work)
Paint the headlight cowl I am buying Friday to match the bike.
Paint the chain guard red as well to stand out more since I have nothing to match the bare metal look. (can always buy another off adidas if I change my mind afterwards)
and sand down the slip-on and get it as shiny as possible.

Already have the black for the frame and red for the touch ups.
Just need to get maybe 1 more can of the red for the cowl, diff black for the engine, and the clear.

So probably 2 weeks from Friday I can finish buying the paint and clear.
Do that work and she will be 100% if no more problems arise!  :thumb:

off topic.
but after 8 hrs of work, thought I would share a little teaser of my current and next project when I cant work on the bike or when its done.

8 hrs preparing the dining room for new flooring and still not ready yet.
Just laid some of the panels down to see how its going to look.
$250 worth and its only going to cover pretty much the one room + a few extra planks.
Guess in 2 weeks, I better get up there and buy another $250 worth to make sure I have enough for the living room.

back on topic.

Just paid for the Gimbel headlight cowl adidas was selling.  :thumb:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Neue-Gimbel-Lampen-Verkleidung-fur-SUZUKI-GS-500-E-/260795027804?pt=Motorrad_Kraftradteile&hash=item3cb898515c

Cant wait to get it and see how its going to look in person on My bike. (instead of just pics of others)
Probably going to see if I can get a black 3D effect Suzuki decal for the front of it like the silver one in the pics on the ebay site.

All my monthly bills were just paid.
So in 2 weeks I'll be buying the rest of the paint I need, as well as the sweet clear I used last time that I have to buy online.
Finish up everything that needs repainting, touching up, and initial painting, shine up the slip-on and if shes mechanically 100%... she will be Finished!

(edit)
now to hope its mechanically good and the gaskets come by mid next week.
as im off Weds Thurs & Friday.
MMmm lovin those temps in north east Pa!!

Well Still no dang gaskets yet!  >:(  >:(  >:(
Been sooooo nice out!
even my friends that ride that were nonexistent last year to ride are buggin me to get out now!!

little bit of painting done.
sanded down the scratched up areas of my frame and redid a few light coats of the black again.
will do more of that tomorrow.

one thing I read tho...
the black im using is enamel.
I read earlier ur not supposed to clear coat certain types or that its hard to and get it to look good.
and honestly, it looked better Before I clear coated it.
so the sections I resprayed, if they look better then it was before... not gonna bother with the clear.

sanded down the slip-on and painted the front area where it goes into the exhaust pipe black as it was rusty.

and then BS'd with a friend that stopped by on his black 07 or 08 GSXR 750 to check my bike out finally.
sat on the bike and WOW!!
even tho its only like 20 pounds lighter then a GS500, it literally felt like 100 pounds lighter!

I was like holy Snits!

gonna be as nice until Friday.
just hope my gaskets arrive Tomorrow!
as I dont care, that sucker IS getting going!
this weather is Torture!

dunno, i just feel its finally going to all come together. (just a hunch)

(edit)
its tuesday and nope.. no gaskets.
startin to get really mad too.
probably the dumb manufacturer is still havin trouble finding or gettin those little O rings between the cylinders and head.
only wish I had someone to call and yell at hahahaha as its not the dealers fault.
2nd gorgeous day wasted.....

(edit)
just got done finishing up all the painting I can do right now.
Frame is back to being 100% Sweet!
Painted the custom GS500 chain guard red to match. ( came out GREAT! )
Finished sanding and polishing the slip-on, and painting the front of it black.
and went over all the black non metal with mothers back to black.

she is now 100% done as for what I have that I can do.
only waiting on 4 things.
Gaskets.
Gimbel Cowl.
Parts from Cbr
and better engine paint.

no pics tho.
I hate taking pics when the tank, plastics, and the top of the motor isnt on.
parts look alot better on a fully assembled bike.

So I will be taking more photos once I have it back together and running.

then when I get and paint the headlight cowl.
going to make a detailed video of everything i've done, vs the crappy one I made before.
going to explain everything this time.

(edit for Weds 3/14)
Still no dang gaskets!!!

Dealer said yesterday the gaskets"Should" be there today.

Just checked the tracking of cbrs package and thats coming today too instead of tomorrow.  :thumb:

so now once I get both, the engine will be 100% complete  :thumb:
bare in mind, no more problems arise.

vs gaskets today and cbrs parts tomorrow, now its all today. (if gaskets arrive)

kk peppers last night creepin up!

(edit)

kk just got back home.

parts were here from Cbr  :thumb: thanks man!!

also, my patience has run OUT!

I stopped at a local auto parts store and grabbed some copper gasket spray.
if the gaskets do not arrive tomorrow.... the heck with waiting any longer!!!

I will just clean up my old gasket and spray it on and use it when it fully dries.
did some extensive reading on it and more pros then cons by a TON!

I can always swap them back out for the ones im waiting on when im bored one day.
but im sick of waiting any longer.

I never order anything through anyone but my computer nowadays.  I remember going to the honda dealer and ordering something and they wanted me to pay for it first, then called me two weeks later to tell me it was in.  pfffff.  Too much available online to waste my time that way nowadays.
Glad parts got there sir.  I hope whichever way you do the gasket,...it works once and for all and you are into the home stretch.

and thats exactly what I did.
paid and they ordered them.

but its not their fault, its who is shipping it to them.
they were or are having trouble getting the little O rings between the cylinders and head.

well, its 11:30 and no call.
which is after the deliveries have arrived....
so no go today either ><
seriously tho, NEVER EVERRRR again!
I dont care whos fault it is.
Im ordering this crap myself, even if I have to pay a lil extra for shipping.

as far as redoing the gasket myself.... not today.
so they have more time for it to arrive.
its damp and dreary out and just killin my mood.
so I have a lil more patience today.

still ticked this is my 5th day off in a row and I couldnt ride as the past 4 days have been the nicest all year!

off next Thurs fri sat and sun, so they have until Weds now.
then I ask for the manufacturers number and SNAP!!!

(edit)
suns coming out it seems.
haha this dang things got my mood up and down like a rollercoaster.
heck with it.
i'll at least get the gasket ready if i change my mind.

I also used to do the dealer thing.  I found intime it was cheaper and faster if I order my parts online.  Sometimes it was even faster ordering in the states and having to wait for it to get accross the border.  I stopped ordering from the dealer also because they gave my part away when I had waited 2 weeks to get it.  Boy was I mad.  Forget them, the States is the way to go.  God Bless America.  :)

I would love to see a small section of the original pine sanded down. I've seen houses in Seattle sand their 80 year old pine and it is awesome. Sure - not perfect and brand new but that old growth wood has a certain beauty - even with old nail holes, dings and stains.
Just for giggles - sand a 3' area and throw on a little finish. Please?

Tombstones81

^^^ I wouldnt mind doing that, when I get around to going at it again.
been just TOO nice out to be kept indoors.
if I remember that is, brain is on PI$$ED OFF right now!!

WELL!!!!

thats enough for today.
as I swear, if I had a gun, I would be shooting the heck out of that bike right now!

whats even worse, took it around the block.
figure a lil heat might help.
rode even better then all the previous times.
she was literally 100% now except for that DAMM LEAK!!!!

Are there any nicks, scrapes or other irregularities in the gasket mating surface in that area?
