I have an online sociology class (supposed to be an easy 2000 level course). I've missed two assignments due to health issues. I am registered with SDS and am supposed to be allowed extensions when I am ill. I don't use this Perk (don't know what to call it) often. The first quiz I missed he said well missing one quiz won't affect your grade that much okay I let it go. Well, I've missed another one and he is still not wanting to reopen the quiz for me saying it's only 2% of your grade! Well, I'm freaking out now because my midterm paper I got a bad grade on 74% which I think my paper was a better quality because I followed his rubric and the TA is taking points off for things on the rubric. I really really don't know what to do. I'm going to the main campus tomorrow and don't know if I should stop by the SDS office and voice my concerns.

I don't want a bad grade on what is supposed to be an "easy" course! All of my professors have been cool with it but this professor doesn't seem interested in doing what SDS requires of them !

Will be easy-peasy. Don't get cranky. Ensure that college admin has yr health issues documented/recorded. Ask admin to arrange for the weighting of your missed assignements to be added by the academic to the final term test/exam/paper, whatever. (Becomes their problem. nice touch eh?). Make a note, or get a print-out of admin's positive response to yr entirely reasonable request. And DON"T miss that final assessment. Thank everyone nicely, get on your bike, off u go
On-line sociology class!!!! Oh my dear gawd, what has tertiary education come to?

Yeah, all of my professors get an official letter every semester stating my disability and the accommodations that my doctor's recommend (within reason). So, I know he knows he is still planning on giging me 4% off my final grade! I'm not okay with that because I have a 3.39 GPA I can't afford for a C or something! I fail or withdraw from a class I lose my VR funding! Physiological Psychology isn't as confusing as this class!

I have no intentions of missing any of my finals etc. But, I don't always have a say in it I am always at the mercy of my heart and Crohn's disease.


The irony of a sociology class without having interaction with any humans. It is problems of the 21st century.

i forget to ask or didnt hit search. but this class/classes are on  a campus somewhere right?,  reason i ask my friend. is because if theres an online version/ or arrangement you can make with administration to take your netbook with you. or have brought to you in hospital so if youre up to it, you can take your classes/attend lectures etc. am dreading returning to school, but am also looking forward to itl. if health improves  a bit. am leaning toward 2 fields. one will  pay for the other. ( hayek school of watchmaking. in miami ) will pay for my interior design degree. the watch school is free. ( only 65 openings./per cycle)

Crohns sucks. Can be an awful thing to deal with during flare-ups.

Yeah, he hasn't even bothered to answer my email  . All I know is this semester is almost over! I'm doing well in my other classes I met with my online physio professor on Wednesday and he was a cool dude for the quiz I missed he just took my avg grade and stuck it in there. He said "why stress about it your a good student and I know you would have done well." We talked about some of his research and he's the type of professor I'd like to take an in person class with. If only my sociology professor would be as accommodating!

My big concern right now is my final paper for this class being that I did so poorly on the midterm and no one is telling me why I got the grade I got. I followed the rubric so I'm stumped!
