Here is what I am proposing. Couple of you were asking about making a set of brackets to allow adjustments in rearset positions.

Here is what I came up with. It allows 5 positions back and down.

Straight back: 2 positions, 15mm & 30mm
Down & Back: 3 Positions, 30deg drop, 20mm, 35mm, 50mm

How much would a set theoretically cost? I'd be a potential buyer.

I didn't think there was room to move the pegs back and down with the exhaust in the way  :dunno_black:

SAFE: I will be checking that but it seems to be ok just on visuals.

I will be mounting the first set tomorrow and providing pics to show everything mounted up.

Preliminary price: $25 + shipping per set. Price includes additional mounting hardware.

would it also be possible to switch sides with them and invert giving 2 straight back and three up and back?

I'd be interested.

Gotta figure out how to mount different pegs too. I hate the stock ones.

Soloratov

OZ: I believe so, I was going to check that as well, but it should work inverted unless the indents in the frame for the stock setup prohibit it.

NINJEFF: If someone wants to use other sets, all I need is the mount hole spacing and I can adjust these brackets to suit.

Ninjeff, search the wiki there are a select few options for pegs with stock mounts. Some modification is required...all the steps are there.

Mark me down for a set of these as well!

Ok. So, preliminary mounting confirms SAFE-T's statement. The exhaust is in the way. I couldn't even move the sets back one position without hitting the stock pipe. It had looked like the 1/4" plate I was using would allow the sets to just miss it. The clutch side is fine, but to make both sides work, the rearsets would not only have to be adjustable, but also would need to be then spaced off the bike roughly 1" to miss the pipe.

Simple terms, to get 1" rearward movement, it need to also stick out the side of the bike another 1".

I'll keep working on it. Just need a way around the exhaust.

SAFE-T

Options will be up and back only. You could get back and up and down a bit again with some aftermarket footpegs that are thinner than stock, or down 30/50mm with the 360degree adjustable pegs from TwistedThrottle.

Soloratov

The bracket design I have will easily allow the up and back without any problem. Just wasn't sure if anyone wanted higher pegs.

SAFE-T

One thing we found when we lowered my wife's '07 was that the footpegs were in an awkward position for a short person ~ it would have better for her to have to footpegs back a bit so she could put her feet down, and the shorter inseam meant she would have been fine with a slightly higher peg as well.

Soloratov

It's funny you should say that...I'm only 5'7", and I finally got my girl running after all sorts of issues. Going to post pics and what-not, but I noticed as well that while I can stand flat, the pegs seem a bit close when I raise my feet. Need some more ride time to really be sure though.

burning1

Pretty much anyone who rides their GS at the track would want higher pegs. Stock pegs are a little low and forward, which tends to make the riding position a little akward with clip-ons. It also makes the pegs drag pretty quickly.

The woodcraft rearsets move the pegs pretty far back compared to stock... IIRC, nearly 2 inches back, and one inch up.

not to step on your toes Soloratov...But if you guys are willing to pay 25 plus shipping I would cut a 50 on the laser tomorrow! Charge the 25 on ebay and give the forum guys a lower price
