I just bought a 1996 GS500E and the choke cable is missing. Instead, there is a bootleg pin to pull on the left side. Very new to riding and the board. Any help would be great. I can PayPal or send cash/check.

I'm located in San Marcos, TX -- in between Austin and San Antonio.
The bug bit. And hard.

Hello again! Yes, I'm a parts whore.
I wanted you to know more about who we all are and things we do - which is why I suggested you post a WTB. You now know more about the board, members and how to find parts.  :woohoo:

I'll mail you one for $10. Lube it when you get it. I don't lube cables because of the mess it can make in an envelope. I will PM you details.

You'll find instructions on installing and clutch adjustment on the WIKI. Others can point you to other postings on clutch adjustment. Having a Haynes or Clymer manual is essential. Photos and instructions on doing everything.

There is a brass colored bar between the 2 carbs for the clutch cable. You will need to inspect that to insure everything is there and nothing broken off.

If you get stuck installing it, post pictures so people know where your problem lies.

i have the carb parts if you do have stuff missing. Hope not though!

Going out tomorrow.
I'll remember to take some photos of a carb set so you know what should be there in case you don't have a service manual.
