Ok, so I just got done with my little project upgrading the 02 gs. I went from pretty much stock to: green leds in the gauges (for shitz and gigz), V&H exhaust, k&n lunchbox, 22.5, 65, 147.5 on the jets, progressives up front, r6 shock in the rear, pirelli 110 tire up front, 130 in rear (stock sizes), 14t front sprocket, 41t rear sprocket, stainless steel front brake line, fresh battery and oh. my. god. This is an entirely new machine. She pulls like a champ from about 5 to red line, and once she hits 7 to red line, she takes off. First gear, which used to lag a bit on my bike, is screaming. I really only do in town riding, so I havent gotten to test out the top end yet but i must say i'm in love with my gs all over again <3. It handles so well through turns, doesnt bottom out on the crappy new orleans streets like it used to, and the sound. Oh the sound. Makes me smile from ear to ear when i open that throttle. Highly recommend the above improvements. Totally worth the $$$. That money was just sitting there, being money, not making me happy. I would trade those little wrinkled pieces of green paper for that face ripping smile any day.

Something else to consider if you dislike repositioning your wrist as much as I do would be changing the stock throttle tube for one from an SV650. The shorter throw made my bike feel much different.

Can you tell me more about this mod? Is there more than just the throttle tube required? Does the throttle tube need to be from a specific year sv650?

Use the 1st gen '99-02 SV650 throttle tube ~ I didn't really notice that much of a change but it was nice to be able to get more throttle with less effort ~ just makes the bike nicer to use.

Yup, '99-'02. All that is needed is the throttle tube. I think the R6 tube works as well and has a slightly shorter throw than the SV. The difference I noticed was instantaneous throttle response (great for leaving from a stop) and not having to reposition my wrist while cruising.

What were the measurements and info that you gave to him to custom make the line?  I am too lazy and not motivated enough to measure mine.............Thanks in advance  :thumb:

The R6 throttle tube works on the 2nd gen. '03+ SV650, but not the GS500. A friend of mine put one on his '04 SV650  :thumb:

Thanks for the info on the 99-02 SV650 throttle tube, I just ordered one.  I believe that the part number is 57110-46E01, in case any one else is looking for one.

Hey, I know this is an old thread...but I just got around to taking a bunch of pictures. She's a little rough around the edges, could use some paint and cleaning here and there, but I'm close to done with her. Went back up to 15t/41t, my gas mileage was laughable. Shorai battery, ditched the s4r fairing.
