These bloody motherfuckers on their goddamned cell phones while driving...honestly, when I see somebody using their phone while driving I want to do what Homer does to Bart.

Long story short, I'm riding along on the highway (SL: 65MPH, I was doing an indicated 80 which is 72MPH), and some stupid Buddha Loves You cut into my lane FOR NO REASON. She just decided to go from the right lane to the center lane (one I was in). There was nobody in front of her. Traffic was very light. Here's the kicker: she was probably doing 35-40MPH.

I cut the throttle (wrong move #1) and banked left. I ended up being forced to ride the white between HER and another car that was behind me but going faster than I was. If I had NOT let off the throttle and instead gave it a little more, I could've just taken the left lane. But, then on the other hand, I would've probably cut the car to my left off.

Yes, I was speeding a little but that extra 7mph wouldn't have been enough to keep me safe. I still would not have had enough time to slow down enough. It was THAT f%$king fast.

When I turned back to look, I saw she had some kind of iphone or similar and was looking down at it. Probably f%$king texting. And can you believe it? She had the f%$king NERVE to blow the HORN at me.

People like this need to have their licenses revoked.

Rant over. I'm alive. Thankfully you didn't hear about me on the 6 o'clock news.

Atleast you didnt get hurt man. I almost got run over by a cager a few weeks ago cause she merged with out looking. Luckily I knew that spot and it's a place where a lot of people do it. She missed the front of my bike by a foot or so. Sometimes I wish it was legal to smash windows out.

I think I've made it pretty clear that I don't like it!

When someone comments about those decals I tell them why and how dangerous. How I saw a friend get creamed by a woman who never got off her cell phone and made the statement to cops "Oh, I saw him but thought I could make it". That he will probably never walk again or preach for that matter much less ride a bike!

With that said though we must remain ever vigilant while riding when I'm at lights I look at the other cars and see who is on the phone. Those that are I get as far away from them as possible.

Expecting to be cut off at all times is a sucky way to live your life and the main reason I reason I no longer ride in the city very much.

Kijona

It actually rarely happens to me.

I live in Atlanta and here there is a high motorcycle presence on the road. The traffic alert signs usually read "Drive Safe and Watch For Motorcycles! They're Everywhere!" when there's no traffic to report.

kyleGS500

I really only have to be the most watchful at that one merge. Around a military base tons of us have motorcycles.

I do punch windows. I have gloves with kevlar caps on the knuckles and drive in the city. There has been many times I have put my hand through a window with my gloves, but it's either that or get creamed in bumper to bumper city traffic. I don't live in the city anymore, thank god!

I think you should have to take an aptitude test to get a license!

The problems with retaliation after the fact are:

* You are too late to have done something useful to have prevented it
* The person who screwed up likely has no idea they did anything wrong
* They might react to you by trying to run you over

Believe me, no one is tired of careless driving than I am, but I guarantee you are better to keep your cool and figure out what YOU could have done differently so there are fewer 'next times', if any

+1,

Then follow the fukers to a parking lot (assuming they are going shopping or some such), wait for them to leave, then snip off two valve stems with a pair of side cutters - people only carry one spare - and leave a note informing them of WHY this has been done.

Of course, informing them will then create HATRED for all motorcyclists. Second though, better not inform them. Better not do it in a parking lot either what with security cameras. How about, just go on your way in disbelief that such incompetence exists then laugh at your foolishness for expecting others to have your level of driving skill.  :icon_mrgreen:

I agree, for the most part. My problem is adrenaline and fear make me react before I have time to think of what to do. End up going with a gut reaction which is to strike.  :2guns:

Either cut valve stems or have a valve stem wrench and take tge valves out of the stems.

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

ive knocked on a window when person has pulled out in front of me, person says " i didnt see you, ( had my sportster with its pipes on) " i said you didnt see me nor hear me obviously, thats fine. but you just about bought a new bike. easy way to prevent this ma'am, look both ways". ( explanation of the road ) she comes up to a t stop, im on, i have right of way, she looks left, NEVER looked right. then started to pull out. ) i say be careful about doing whatever you do, ( myself included) cause it may scare the shaZam! out of the cager, and their direction of travel becomes the same as yours, or becomes one with it. which for you would work out badly

YOu mean,

you see car drivers get angry at other car drivers and not at bikes?

I've seen it. I've experienced it. Minding my own business a car coems screaming up behind me. Lights flashing, guy has his head out the window cussing at me. I just shrug, split some traffic and was gone away from Mr Furious.

No clue, but I have bluetooth interlink in my helmet, I don't use it for phone calls a lot mainly it is for music, but it makes really nice clear phone calls! And for all your naysayers that say it is dangerous, so is taking a shower but you still do it daily (hopefully)

I hear you.  My GS these days is my commuter.  I use it for just about every trip, every workday, etc. unless my son comes along.  Then I drive my 2002 Protege.  This happens to me at least once a week.  People in Ohio are more concerned with texting/sexting/talking whatever than driving.  I am frustrated to no end with these derelicts in cages not giving a damn about me, my life, or my machine.  Toogoofy with the stickers on the helmet is the right way to go.  I'm going to invest in an air horn and reflective tape for my left middle finger soon, cause the stock scooter horn does nothing.
