Update  :thumb:

More msgs between the 01 engine with 6K miles seller.

Hes going to hold it for me until I get paid as long as I pay the asking price.

So a week from today or tomorrow, I'll have a newer, fewer miles 100% running engine in my baby!

Only thing tho, not sure how a Silver engine is going to look in my black and red bike. hahaha

Im not going to bother painting it this season tho.

I thought your bike was running good now?  Why swap engines when things are going fine?

Its running "good".
but not 100% and it just doesnt quite sound... Right...

to make it short.
I would be putting more work into it.

and the 94, I would be fully rebuilding the top end and then putting that back in it.
as that was my initial plan to keep myself busy as another project.

but then the 01 would be cheaper then rebuilding the 94.
its newer and fewer miles.

its just the best way to go right now.
Less headaches and worries.

then I can just finish the others up and sell them and be Done with it all! haha

those are the main reasons.

sorry im now Totally out of it.
worked all night and dead tired.
time for bed :)

(edit)
kk sorry my brain is Very slow functioning right now. haha

Basically.
I got Screwed on the 89 motor... partially
with the exhaust valve not sealing properly (oddly, my one extra good one I know is straight wont either, even after going at it with valve grinding compound)

I basically have Too many mixed and matched parts to get her going.

and honestly, if I have a choice.... I Dont like it.

thats why I was going to rebuild my 94 to pretty much brand new on the top end.

but if I can get newer motor running 100% already that is all together the same with fewer miles.....

not a hard choice to make.

Why?!
BECAUSE THE GDAMM PIECE OF $H!T just HASSSSSS to leak oil from SOMEWHERE!

Stupid F'in head cover is leaking worse now.

Cause taking them off and on so much, the damm female threads on a few parts are partially stripped.
Front middle one just recently.

Just TRIED to ride to pick up my package from my old apt......

Didnt leak until AFTER I filled her up of COURSE!!!! (gas)

Got over the bridge and looked down.....

whole side of the motor is Covered in oil!

not to mention my shoe and the bottom of my brand new F"ING PANTS!!!!!!!!!!

I'll redo the female threads before I sell it but I am DONE with these Piece of Crap engines!!!!!

Might just be my bad luck but I dont give a crap anymore!

Freakin Ticked!

sorry for the blow up.... yes I am that P'O'd

Big Rich

Is it the head cover gasket or the o rings under the bolts? If the gasket is soft and pliable, it should be OK. But those little o rings don't take much to be destroyed........
83 GR650 (riding / rolling project)

It's opener there in the wide open air...

Reminds me of my old Sabre,...cruising, feel something warm, look down and radiator cap mia. Nice warm coolant coming out all over my pants,....sumbi***!!

head cover gasket is fine.

not sure on the O rings below the bolts.

I know I have to redo the female threads first tho.
From taking it off and on so much, the front and back ones in the middle are semi stripped.
front one just recently.

Not even worried about it.
Was just Really ticked off earlier.

It will just sit there and rot for a week until I get that 01 motor.

Then I will get both engines back up to par and sell em.

I am simply Done with working on an engine for my bike.
thats another reason im buying another one that is actually 100% this time! (unlike the 89! with the bad exhaust valve ><)

I just wanna put an engine in, hook it up, change the fluids and Go! (already have 2 extra brand new plugs along with the new ones I just put in the 89)

I am simply Done working on these to get one working 100%, swapping parts etc etc
Dont wanna do it anymore... simple as that.

To sell is one thing, but to use... im just finally 100% totally fed Up!

(edit)
and I am VERYYYYYY VERYYYYYYY grateful to the 01 engine seller for holding onto it for me for a week so I can buy it!!

at this point..... I would say more grateful then Anyone else who could buy it would be! hahahaha

as long as I just put it in the frame, hook it up, change the fluids and plugs, fire it up and just GO!
oh yeah, and a valve clearance check.

and I apologize for losing my cool on here guys.

I am simply trying my hardest to just have something to enjoy and not have to worry or work on it Anymore.
But it seems just Too far out of reach.

I REALLYYYY have to start helpin out with workin on the house too and the bills.
but im one determined, stubborn SOB.
and this bike sure as heck wont get the best of me!

(edit)
just realized something sweet too, but minor.

Now I can make use of my brand new 15T front sprocket on the 01 engine im buying, that couldnt be used on the 89 engine because of the shoulder :)

lil money saved there :)

Clear coat on the headlight cowl is finished  :thumb:

The paint I've used on the cowl and pretty much everything that is red.

Watch the background reflection in the paint get better and better as the coats go on.
haha found that to be pretty neat.

First light coat

4th

and finished!

Now to let it sit and cure for a few days, then mount it  :thumb:

Unimportant update.
well, compared to everything else. haha

Stopped at the tag and title place as the time on my phone has been out all week incase they called.

Personalized plate wont be there until sometime mid or late May.

No complaints, just wish they would have told me how long when I ordered it!

and now its Visually complete.

Minus a soon to be Sweet running 01 Silver engine on Saturday!

not sure how thats going to mesh but I dont care.

if it doesnt go well, i'll just paint the ends of the fins black and call it a day

(edit)
and btw, the bike is still Filthy! hahaha

Are you sanding those clear coats?

You've got me convinced to buy that clear for my bike.

Tombstones81

#394
Sanding is usually to smoothen it out mostly if there are any imperfections on the very top.
and also to get a shine.

I have yet to see a need to sand to get either one  :thumb:

and if ur going to clear urself with a rattle can, I honestly wouldnt go with anything else!

and kk time to go for dinner.

just got done installing my new fuel filter in the car.

(edit)
just got back from taking my dad back home.
Cars running smoother then it was when I first got the thing!!!

and actually, I am going to get a belly pan.
Just not until I get a ton of important things taken care of first. (unrelated to the bike)

It just looks incomplete as its actually Quite a bit wider then the skidmarx one as I just compared pics between mine and adidas.

so a belly pan to add to the visual will help.
not that im complaining whatsoever  :thumb:

Personally I like it without the belly pan.  Looks a little more streetfighterish, especially with your black frame.  That's just me though.  Spend you money how you wish.

cbrfxr67

Me too,..looks fzantastic just like that.  Pops looks like he is looking for a oil drip or something,....

Thanks!

and I havnt even been able to stop and Really look at it much yet other then the pics.

all I did was finish, take pics, cover it up, came inside to upload them, then went out and replaced my cars fuel filter.

Yeah the heck with it, I dont NEED a bellypan and when its back on the road.... im Done spending money except for maintenance.

dunno what hes lookin at hahaha
and yeah thats my pops.
dragged him over to get out of his house for the day as it was too nice out.

I put the headlight cowl on yesterday instead of just sitting still while the car cooled off where I dont get burned going under it.

Yeah you are both right.

No belly pan.
as if it was black, it wouldnt be noticed too much being surrounded by more black.
if it was red... noty!
Already more then enough red on the bike as it is.

and kk im bored.
time to take the head off in preparations for helicoiling when the kit arrives.

I was debating if I wanted to take the head off or the entire motor and just do the helicoiling with the head on and just put a towel all over to catch anything from the drilling.

but the heck with it, head will come off.

if I do have to take the motor out, will make it easier with the head out.

if I will even have to take the motor out for the new one.
just being paranoid.
as im still waiting on Exact directions on where im going, just got some to I guess something nearby, but no address yet.
and havnt heard from him since yesterday morning.

even my dad constantly says I have some BAD luck (said it yesterday too with the car problems that are now fixed)
so yes, when I look forward to something quite a bit, I get quite worrisome. hahaha

kk time to get some work done!

Update.

Just got done pulling the head off, cleaning the carbs & putting the allen head bolts in.

Found out why it was leaking so severely at the front left side of the head cover.

the one circled in red, the black bolts completely stripped the female threads!
Pulled the bolts out and All the threads came with them both!

So the cover, and also the camshaft wasnt even secure on that side!!

Soo lucky! as it could have been WAY worse with a halfway loose front camshaft!!!

add 2 more sockets to helicoil now!! hahaha

gotta find out if they are the same size or not.

and it stripped so bad because, as you all know.
when the timing is set, that side is pointing down at the valve.
and if you put them on as it sits, its more pressure on the threads then the rest when you're tightening them down
