I saw somewhere here on another thread somone threw a link up to another thread on another site where a bloke got a few small o rings and tested them out in pill containers using different liquids, he used off the top of my head I think: kero, WD40, brake fluid, and something else. After a week or so the WD40 and suprisingly brake fluid were the best things for the orings. He measured the orings and felt them for 'squishiness' and hardness. I used to use diesel to clean my old chain but in 6 months it was absolutly rusted up and I was using belray. Now with my new chain I use WD40 or crc 5.56 to clean and belray to lube up, its an xring chain too and each time i clean it up it looks damn near brand new. Im only using belray cause just about everyone I know uses it and rekkons it the best thing since sliced bread. I dont like the fact its sticky and attracts all the dirt n crap from the road which is why if there is a 'dry' option out there I'll give it a go but will take a while to see any result.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Maybe it's the combo of Belray and Diesel that's causing it to rust. I have never had that happen on anything from dirtbikes to street bikes. I've used diesel on everything and never had that issue.

Were you taking the bike for a spin after degreasing the chain with diesel? I'm thinking what might've happened is there was some leftover diesel on the chain (it doesn't evaporate like gasoline) which contaminated the lube and made it not stick. Diesel fuel (and kerosene) is kind of the universally accepted cleaning agent. I've tried using WD-40 as I said and it didn't seem to do much either for cleaning OR lubing.  :dunno_black:

Yeah I use diesel for most of my degreasing but yeah didn't do the old chain any good.

You found belray sticky? What type was it? Cause Super Clean is as the name suggests... clean. Chain hardly needs touching at all.

Yeah it's the same belray, I clean the chain up with 556 then lube up

Ah, maybe what yo think of as sticky I do not after using Lanolin, which is almost like dirt grows on it it is so sticky.
