hello,
Do you think a bandit 600 canister will fit on my Gs500e. I've found one for only 125 dollars (I don't know the model's year)...

I'm don't afraid of cutting off the stock canister and welding somes tubes and washers.

I'm just wondering if the diameter of the bandit's canister is aproximatively the same of the GS exhaust ( about 45mm ).
And if he isn't just too big or too long...
Thanks.

A stock exhaust muffler (what I understand you are refering to from context) from a Bandit isn't likely to help much. Yes it will be bigger in diameter and so will flow slightly better than the GS one,  but the step from the GS's 45mm OD header to whatever the Bandit's is (probably over 60mm) might cause wierd behaviour. 50/50 chance that you would lose engine power vs gain anything.

So I would say no, its not worth the expense, time, and aggrivation.

$125 for a stock canister??? that's way too much if you're looking for performance....just buy a canister from ebay.. way cheaper

YEah, that's still too much.  A performance canister in the US is usually at the very least $300. You should be able to get a stock canister for around $20-$50 + Shipping. There is nothing that bolts directly to the GS, so all you have to do is have the canister cut and welded. GOod Luck :thumb:

I'm also thinking of going that route - I've got my (drilled out) SVS muffler lying around the house - so I test fit it this afternoon, looks like a fairly simple welding job, just don't know how it will effect performance?

I'm about to rejet - so I'm thinking I'll do this @ the same time...  any ideas?
