I was wondering how everyone rides ? with a group or solo? I was thinking about it earlier and was wondering what others do. I have been riding for 3 years and I nearly always ride by myself. In all honesty I have probably ridden with others maybe 4 times. I would love to ride with others but I don't really know anyone that rides locally.

I commute so most of the time I ride alone. But on weekends I have 2 buddies that ride but I only get out with them once maybe twice a month...so I do alot of solo riding.

I have led group rides in Washington State for decades, I ride to work whenever I can, I ride allot alone...but I do ride to relax, coming over the top of a hill and dropping into a valley below can only be topped if I smell cow manure...not that liquid slurry they spray out of a hose. the real stuff, so I ride to relax and smell the cow poo...but mostly the relaxing part  :thumb:

I ride mostly alone. I get to ride at my pace and I like it that way.

I ride alone or with one other .Wont ride in a group they do more stupid things  and will get you killed  or badley injured.

I commute during the week, but weekends I always ride with a group, that way if something goes wrong there are others who can help and get more help.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

I commute also so I ride alone a lot. The weather is still kinda crappy here and I'm one of those nuts that will ride in the 30 deg temps. Every now and again I'll ride along some random person on my way to work.

Sometimes I like to ride in groups but nothing beats the freedom to be able to jump on your bike and go for a solo ride. You can explore places that you have never been before or do the " I wonder where that road goes?"  thing.

I ride to work daily - by myself.

On the weekend...

I have created rides for - and led - as many as 40 bikes. And have also ridden in groups of 20 or more bikes. Typically, I will NOT ride by myself on a weekend. I will ride with at least one other, usually more. It is Safer to ride with others on the weekend. Cause if something happens you have people who Can help you should you Need it.

Not to say I have never ridden solo on a weekend. I have done and worked out some great rides for a small group later on. But typically, I will ride with others.

Guy I work with was riding by himself. He came to grief. Noone saw. His bike went off road and flung him into a wooden fence post. He was unconscious for a while. When he came to it was getting dark. He went to move and was struck with Excruciating pain. He'd broken many bones and was unable to move. He lay there in the bushes. He could hear cars and see headlight beams cutting through the trees. He raised his hand and moved it, hoping the movement would catch someone's attention. He was unable to move. No water. Nothing. Of course he went to the toilet in his own pants. Some time during the Next day he figured he needed to do something otherwise he would die there. So inch by inch and in pain he dragged his body closer to the road - something that took some hours to do in his injured state. Finally being close to the road he again tried to raise his hand and hope someone driving by would see him. And someone did. They found his bike, found where he had crawled from  and located his wallet and identifying details and called the ambulance.

HE had also called the ambulance before his phone ran out of juice. And he saw their headlights go up and down the road slowly. But they never got out to look. And he could not yell out. And the bushes showed no sign of a bike having gone through. They later came into the hospital and apologized to him. It took him 6 months to recover from his injuries enough so he could go back to work.

75% is alone, errands or just for pleasure.

25% is with the guys, in the dirt, laughing my ass off and feeling the fun in my bones:

the most fun i've had is with other people in the dirt. i will not ride dirt by myself. after one crash that required stitches and a few broken legs, i have learned to lean on friends.

also, i would love to swap that ratio to the opposite, and be dirty and laughing 75% of the time instead. unfortunately, it takes more coordination of calendars and less family time.

Last year (my first year riding) it was All solo. (learning)

This year.
A bunch by myself.
and 2 rides with 2 other people.

but we have a pretty good local site going and Always group riding going on.
so now that my bike isnt as 100% Ugly as it was last year.
Im hittin up all the group rides I can with all the local riders.

So this year if they gather enough, will be half solo, half group riding.

I'm very much a loner in most aspects of my life... so I ride solo just about all the time.

I ride alone almost always, whether commuting or twisties. When I get a little more experienced though, I woulnt mind finding one or two people to ride with on the weekends. I have no desire to ride in a large group.

I like solo rides best, but I have a buddy that is also a GS Twinner, and we occasionally do weekend buddy rides. I used to do group rides, but quit due to dangerous and immature riding behavior on several rides, so now I stay by myself.

I ride alone during the week when I am just commuting to work and school. If I ride on the weekends, it's with my only friend that has a bike. As soon as I convince my other friend to buy a bike instead of more go fast bits for his car, I will have a whopping 3 people in my biker gang.  :2guns: :icon_eek:

thats why I choose to stay in the back of the pack.

that and like 90% of the riders I have and will be riding with have quicker bikes and if they feel like letting it open, they dont have to bother passing me.

so let them all be as dumb as they wanna.
as I would rather it be up to my swerve and or brake skills to avoid something bad then something unseen from behind.

Mostly solo due to off schedules. I ride a controlled, comfortable, but still enjoyable pace.

2 other bikes in the driveway that aren't mine(roommates shadow, and friends gs) but roommate is in school, and the other gs owner works night shift. 4 out of 5 times i'm jumping on solo.

I've ridden with a good mix from cruisers -> nice sport bikes. I usually will only ride with someone after learning a bit of their personality. Usually a good indicator if I want to be riding as a group with them.
