As I mentioned in my build thread, my GS has a pretty big back tyre. So I was wondering what difference a smaller tyre would make when I have to change it. I am currently getting about 120Km/h at 5500rpm, how does that compare? (I assume I have standard sprocket gearing) Thanks.

With all stock, what I find is about 100:1 in 6th gear. 6000 rpm = 60 mph
Also consider that red line is 11000 rpm and top speed listed as 120mph (as I recall).
So you're a little faster. Meh. Not that much faster.

Addy, if you are getting only 60mph for 6000rpm in 6th, something is wrong there.

Stock, 6th gear at 6000 will be around 120kph which is 75mph to 80mph

60mph is close to 100kph and in 6th will be around 5,000rpm.

With stock gearing and stock rear tire size my needles are even in 5th gear, 5000 rpm = 50 mph in 5th.  The GS500 would hit 140 mph at redline in 6th if it could pull it.  It will go over 100 mph in 4th gear at redline.

120km/h = 75 mph approx.  Stock GS turns 4730x70/60=5912 at 75 mph approx.

Just relying on memory. Usually too busy riding to watch the speedo and tach.
I do go fast.

Thanks guys. It seems its a touch higher than standard, it does feel slightly neutered though so when I change it I will probably try something smaller. I don't ride fast so top end speed isn't really a big deal. Thanks again for the replies.

Went to UW dental clinic via I-5. 5000 rpm = about 65 on the speedo. Since it reads fast, that like 58-60 mph at 5000 rpm.
