So I think I'd like to build my Gs500f to the max. What's the max potential of these bikes? Any numbers or slips?

As previously mentioned....polishing turds can be done, if you throw enough money at the terd polishing process, I would choose a terd that shines a bit more to begin with, this minimizes the amount of money needed to make the terd a shiny terd  :thumb:

Ha...forum turns "turds" spelled in singular form to "poop"...so I have to spell it "terd", now that's funny!

Buy a busa.  Goes real fast in a straight line.
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

I wish. So with my mods, the usual suspension mods and some pirellis can I see 13s?

your best bet is practice. Practice could probably shave some time.

mods will be mostly irrelavant.

A 15t front sprocket on my 09 did wonders for getting out of the hole quicker.

See everyone told me 15t didnt do anything. What's the top end on that? I heard we top at 110 regardless

No, they told you that you're not going to improve the top end with a 15t.

mahemmjr

Clearly. They argued that the drop only affects the initial movement. I figured it would move you through the revs faster.

15front will bring faster acceleration, so maxing it.... 3tooth should be good :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff:

less 1 tooth in the front, less two plus two in the rear, get the best air filter and exhaust, rejet, and I can't think of nothing else. Why you don't get your hands in a old CBR, VFR, GSXR, RF600 or RF900...you might score one of those for a good price and any of them will be a completely different story!

EDIT: sorry, mistaken advice in the rear sprocket!

You're reading what you want to read.  :icon_rolleyes:

You were told... it will only take off faster than a stock. Once that initial thing has been done, the bikes will be even but the 15t will be in front until it tops out and the stock passes it.

Again... if a 15t and stock 16t are in a race, the 15 will pull away first - until - the 16 gets into the revs. At That Point, the bikes will then be evenly matched - with the 15 still that bit in front - until the 15 tops out and the 16 catches and passes.

Seeing as you seem so keen to race this thing in a straight line for 400 meters, change the exhaust, change the airbox, rejet the bike, drop one on the front and go up two or three on the rear. Also, bore it out to an even 500 or 550 instead of the 487 it is. Good luck.

If I wanted faster, I'd save myself the hassle and just buy a faster bike to begin with  :thumb:

By the time you spend all the $$ to do this list of mods, you'll be at the price of an older bike that would do this speed/time with all stock parts. But, if you really want to live your life a quarter mile at a time, you'll need to find a way to put on at least a 20 shot of NOS.   :2guns:
It seems it has become necessary to qualify my posts:

Sounds like a really expensive method of suicide to me.

Dont listen to these clowns. In a 1/4 mile - easiest way, toss it out of an airplane.
In fact if the plane can be in a dive while you toss it it will be even faster.

That's the real meaning of "jetting" it ... he he.

Cool.
