I recently bought a 1995 Suzuki GS 500 for $500 and it needs some restorative work. It runs great (after I got a new carb ) so I'm not complaining. I'm looking for parts relatively cheaply or at least at a reasonable price. This is my first bike and even though I can find some of the parts online I would like to know what other people used on their project bikes. Also if anyone reading have parts I would be more than willing to buy it in person than from online so I can inspect it and see if it fits. So to the point here is what I need or an looking for.

***Headlight, bracket and mounts - or as close to them as possible***
****Speedo/Tach mount - I need a new mount to hold my speedo and tachometer. Also the lights for highbeam and neutral are missing and don't work.****

Forks - seals and someone to work on them. These are secondary.
Seat re-upholsered (if that is even a word) . Lastly because I might end up just doing these myself.

I want to restore the crap out of this bike (without buying a GS500 front end/that one is fine). I will get it painted after all the work is finished. I just need parts and help because I went to RPM behind the Rosa Parks station and he just sent me away with a f%$king attitude. His loss because I have the money to get this thing looking good again. I just need cheaper parts.

When you say mount for speedo/tach are you referring to the metal plate with the 4 different colored light caps in it?  If so, i have one.  Let me know.
K&N Lunchbox, K&N Engine Breather, Hella Angel Eyes, Buell Turn signals, Kat 750 Rear Shock, Progressive Springs, MC Case Guards, Aluminum Ignition Cover, V&H Full Exhaust, Ignition Advancer, 15T Sprocket, Srinath Bars, Gel Seat, Dual FIAMM Freeway Blaster horns

Wlcome to gs mart :) i ended up rebuilding most of my first streetable bike ( how i got my username) a 97 gs500e for the msot oart any year gs500E parts will fit. certain carb viariances etc but usable but my friend. once you get comfy with bike. ( or tbh id suggest beforehand, raise up the exhaust can ( just about any exhaust shop will do this fairly cheap) because with it than low your cornering will be hampered. and for a first bike, ( and more tbh) the gs cannot be beat overall looks pretty good. but that light. liikes like a driving light  off of a cruiser ( ive got a set of em )but only one beam. idk if that is DOT legal , but really if it works right ? :) many things you can do with these bikes.  :icon_mrgreen:

Looks like you got a different set of forks, but the top triple look like gs, did he say anything about the bike when you bought it. to mount the tac and speedo, there should be little posts for a lak of a better word to mount them to on the top triple. so you might have a hard time finding something. if you have the money i would out a different speedo/tac like a digital one on and make of have a shop fab up a mount for it. I would put the seals in the forks up higher on the list, i had mine blown for a few months before i could fix them and riding/ handling in bordering on stupid dangerous.

Bar holders: looks like older Katana. Look carefully at the handlebar holder and the top triple.
It is definitely not GS500 parts.

Haha good eye. the guy I bought it from was trying something. I'm trying to restore it.

you shouldnt have a problem selling the front end as a whole if you want to get it back to stock.

Not a GS500 fender or front caliper. The whole front end looks like a KAT swap or something like that.

I don't have the capitol to get it back to stock. I just want it to look good and to operate very well while I'm still learning. I will probably get a new suzuki gxr or something next year but currently I'm very new to motorcycles. It works fine the only thing I need is to clean up the look so the outside matches the inside  :icon_mrgreen:

Other that the cosmetics (Paint, 7" headlight, seat, turn signals etc) I was thinking about the Forks done and that's all see wrote. New carbs(re jetted), battery, K & N lunch box air filter and tune-up. It just looks like crap.

Time to post an updated list of what you need. There has been a lot of discussion about the non-GS500 front end. You need to decide if you want to return to stock GS500 or fix what is there.

Done. I will keep the front end. I think buying a stock front end would be too costly plus this one works just fine.

That is a katana 750 FE, you are better off swapping to the 600's top triple. That plus some parts I made could make for a good guage carrier ... and I also make headlight carriers ... though you will need to make the triangle ears for the headlight ... all these are projects in progress. Grrrr ... hopefully today I get the MZ and some parts for the GS found so I should be catching up on the GS this weekend. But I also need to catch up on the beer and you never know once that happens ...

Cool.
