Did you turn the screws 3 turns out from where they were, or did you turn them all the way in first and then come 3 turns out?  (You want to do it the second way, not the first.)

Not to be too obvious, but what happens when you try it one way vs. the other?  There's nothing like empirical evidence!

"Rich" is when there is more than the ideal amount of FUEL in the fuel/air mixture.  "Lean" is when there is more than the ideal amount of AIR in the mixture.

Start with the old maintenance message thread.  If you do a Search (using the terms "carb synch tool" and the "Search for all terms" setting) you will get a nice set of links to helpful threads.  They cover topics from how to make a carb synch tool to where to attach it on the carbs to how to attach an auxiliary fuel tank into your fuel system.  Good Luck!

Here's how I do it:
    1) Get on the bike
    2) Put it in neutral and/or pull the clutch in
    3) Cover the front brake lever
    4) Rock the bike back slightly and then forward aggressively
    5) Apply the front brake as soon as the bike comes off the centerstand.[/list:u]

Uh, Kerry: I  understood that he wants to take the centerstand off the bike, not the other way around.

Yeah, that makes more sense!
