One dies and another is born... THE CIRCLE OF LIFEEEEEE!!!!!
Is there one part - bolt, nut, whatever that I could prt on Phenix to truly continue the circle of life?

PS: Even if I put something somewhere symbolically in honor of your bike. That would be nice.

I got all the stock parts I took off (top triple, pegs, fairings, mounts, the tail light I made, etc)

Its all yours if you pay the shipping!

Phenix got a MosFet regulator tonight. It does seem to improve performance since the DC is more stable. Charges up battery faster.

Ordered the newest Denali fog lights for him and some other trinkets & bling-bling from Twisted Throttle.

Pix will come when the new bling-bling is installed.

When in doubt, empty the magazine.

are those gonna be the same ones that are on Suzi?
Close. The newer model of the same thing.

And I did get the peg mounts straightened out. I will post a picture of how I did it using a long wrench and a standard peg mount plate.

Not to scratch at old wounds, but did you ever post these photos? Scrolled through but didn't see them.

Seems Gabby's mount is slightly bent.. Couldn't tell with stock sets, but the Gimbel's really exaggerate it.
if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

adidasguy

Posted somewhere. Here's what I did. Used a long axle bolt to bend it back out. The key here is using the bolt like shown. You are PUSHING in so you do not pull out the frame mounts. While the leverage forced the back of the mount out, it applies pressure so the frame mounts stay flat and pushed in.
You may need to push in with the right hand wile using the left arm to grab the frame for leverage.
The picture ts taken showing the wrong hand. It should be the RIGHT hand PUSHING in. (Right hand was holding the camera).

'Preciate it!

for you

Edit: Got it! Ended up using a breaker bar to get a bit more leverage, but it worked like a charm

Welcome:
Now can you stop over and help put a motor together for Junior?

jmill

I'm free Friday afternoon, I can help with junior. Hopefully I'll have everything painted by then too.
When in doubt, empty the magazine.

adidasguy

I'll plan on skipping work. Not a problem. Junior is important to get running.

Sounds like a party. I'm finishing up with priming today so I should be riding again by the end of the week. If not, I'll be rocking the flat gray tank for the trip to the bike cave.. With that on you can really see EVERY imperfection. Sand, bondo, sand, bondo.... I'll post some pics in a bit.
When in doubt, empty the magazine.

Latest thing was installing a Motad stainless steel exhaust. Looks hot and sounds better without being louder.

Made a video of it.

Photos of the Motad exhaust. One rider said it sound like a Ducati when idling. I love this exhaust!
(Any funky lines or zig zag lines are artifacts of reducing the photo size and whatever photobucket does with it)

Note: The two header pipes are actually changing color about the same. That means both cylinders are running close to the same temperature. If one was hotter, I'd see a difference in the amount of and length of color change of the stainless steel pipes.

Changing oil is gonna be a pain like the V&H system.
I looked. The oil plug is not obstructed.
With an angled socket, it looks like the filter cover can come off. There is enough depth where I think the filter can come out.

I haven't tried an oil change with a V&H. Junior was due for an oil change but hos motor died. So the new engine got fresh oil before we put it on the bike and the V&H back on.

I have the Jardine on mine, its not hard. put a piece of cardboard down and you can get most of the oil to not run on the exhaust. i can also get the oil filter off without pulling the exhaust.

What is a mosfet regulator ? I thought it had a mosfet regulator to start with ?
Cool.

They are newer parts than what we have. I think the most significant difference in these is they politely shut off when over heating or over stressed, rather than just blowing out. Not sure exactly what we have now but I don't think it is MosFet. I know ours blow out and with the new MosFet ones they just keep on playing.
No more expensive than buying a new OEM one so might as well get a better one.

WOW! Talk about dredging up old threads....

... but then I like my projects to stay at the top of the list!
