Hey guys,

I'm trying to mount the following headlight:

Thing is I have NO idea how to mount this, as the headlight didn't come with any hardware or instructions. I can't return it because I had it special ordered. What do you think I would need to mount this properly?

Erika

Is it a headlight from a GS500? If so, you could call these guys and ask for the hardware. It looks like your housing is missing that rubber round piece and plastic piece that fits in that side hole you are showing in the photo. The bolt and washer (3 & 4 in the diagram) slide through those and holds it to the headlight ears. I guess you could call and see if they would sell those to you without having to get the housing with it. Also, 8-11 on the diagram go through a bracket on the back of the housing and bolts onto a bracket on the fork keeping the headlight from tilting up and down, in case you were wondering.

This is an aftermarket headlight as my search for a stock headlight did not turn out well. I've pretty much wasted my money on a headlight that I have no hardware for.

Might have to go with modifying my GS500F headlight to meet my requirements as most people on here selling a stock headlight ask way too much when they don't consider the cost of shipping the darn thing.

Are the holes on the side of the light threaded? If so you just need to get yourself some ears that will attach to you forks like these -

With that protrusion at the back of the light you may have a lil trouble with the tach and speedo cables.

They're not theaded, just a hollow hole on each side. I have those brackets. They would work perfectly if I new how to get the headlight mounted.

If the holes are not threaded, then you need a bolt, rubber bushing to go into the hole, a washer and a nut on the inside.  Am I missing something?

Do what bomb said, just make something,.......

I guess I could figure something out. I have the bolts, and the washers, but not the rubber grommets. I'll have look at the hardware store today. Thanks.

If you have a Sears Hardware near you, they should have what you need in their small-parts section.

Really? Crap, that will be another problem I'll run into. How would I go about fixing that? The tach cables are solid buggers.

And have exposed wiring to weather/road debris? I say cut a little groove, that is if it fits in the first place.

You could just mount it further out from the forks ( a longer version of what twisted posted).

It's been over 15 days, how can you stand not riding?
