UNDER the lexus? lol.

Still had to be a noticable hit for the airbags to blow, though, one would think?

Wow that's crazy. In my experience, if the forks are not bent, then the front of the frame is normally ok. Rear sub-frame is a different story.

Ya know, I think I'm going to go along with cheetahman's comment here: I think the fairing could have taken the hit for the front, and saved the forks. Maybe.

Too bad fairings cost more than the forks, otherwise, everyone would be putting on fairings as "fork sliders" ;-)

Looks close to being rideable. Personally, once the bike was sorted enough to ride, I'd gear up and take it for a short cruise around the block / up and down the road. A bent frame or forks, if not obvious from inspection, will show up while riding (pulling, leaning weird, turning in weird.) Then you can go from there with the purchases you need to get it street legal, or take it to a frame shop, etc.

I agree with the ride it and see if it pulls pushes at all. I have to see if the clubman bars off the 72 RD200 project will work.

Good luck :thumb: with it

I took the crushed exhaust the to midas and they expanded the pipe out. Lines up good. It looks like someone cut the pipe then put the clamp on. No idea why. So my decision for now is a cheap as possible cafe setup. I want to give the bike to my budd and his wife to ride. A bit of luck the tail light is integrated LED. The headlight "Phil B" is using in the projects section is the style I like.

I was thinking this bulb in the headlight.

i admire your generosity... but do you really want to feel responsible if something does turn out to be wrong with it?

Interesting. The exhaust, is that 2-pc on the 2006 bikes?

I have the same bike (2006 F) and it has a one piece. Probably someone had another muffler on it or tried to put another muffler on it.

The bike will be certified by an independent mechanic before it becomes a loner and  they have both had bikes before.

Still looking for parts.

Well installed the SV bars. Tigh fit on th Brake side. Very low for me. Backs already hurting from another problem. It rides ok. Forgot how cold blooded these GS bikes are. Still looking for a headlight and will my go for standared mirrors.

Well I made a deal. $500 was the lowest price. So some concerns. Front engine mount bolt broken, Front fairing mount bent but frame looks fine. So I'm looking for Headlight complete plus mounts L/R, Handlebars, Mirrors, Front upper engine mount bolt.

You NEVER really know if the frame is fine or not. It could be compromised and not show visual signs, then one day you're buzzing down the highway or through the twisties and the frame flexes and BAM! That being said, looks like you bought it, right? I think I saw the same fairings on ebay for pretty cheap.

after riding up and down the street it feels good. I have purchased an ridden much nastier looking bikes with no problem. I road a GSXR600 with a visible hairline fracture in the head stock for a season. More modern sport bikes I find scarier after accidents. Very thin walled frames.
