So last weekend I installed a aftermarket rear cowl I got from adidas a while back. It is fiber glass and took some modifying to make it suit my liking, anyways I really like the carbon fiber rear cowl that were sold here which are very hard to get a hold of now.

my question is whether or not anyone has used vinyl adhesive rolls to cover up any body plastics on the gs? in my case I would be using a carbon fiber pattern. I looked on eBay and found a size that I believe will be enough to cover the cowl for about 14 bucks.

here a picture of her

That adhesive will need to be very strong and weather resistant. It's going to sit in direct sunlight, probably get rained on from time to time and have the wind trying to peel it off the bike. For $14, it might be worth a try but just remember, permanent adhesives are very hard to impossible to remove once they have fully cured (without damaging the underlying surface anyway)!

Are you wrapping your rear cowl (seat) or your rear hugger (on the rear wheel)? I wouldn't trust the vinyl to hold up to sunlight for the cowl/tank but on the hugger it's pretty much in the shade 50% of the time it's in the sun.

Yeah the covering will be for the rear hugger, sorry i think i mixed the terms up. Given that it is a fairly small piece maybe it would be better to practice my rattle can skills on the hugger. thanks for the info!

This stuff is the best, hands down. No worries about sunlight or weather, plus the adhesive is pressure-activated so it's very forgiving to work with. You can also remove it without damaging your plastics, even 5+ years down the road.

I'm planning on wrapping my entire bike in the stuff (not carbon look, though).
Watch some youtube vids on application.

I helped a friend wrap his R6 with that stuff and i have to say it does what it says but there is a skill to get it all looking perfect. His has been on there for three years without peeling anywhere but where he rashed it on a gravel road.
Friendly fire, isn't. But it's the most accurate. Semper Fi
