I have a boatload of yard moles. Tearing the hell out of my yard.

Bought some Scott's Grubex to kill grubs. Moles eat grubs. Thought that if I take the food buffet away they will bother my neighbor and not me. Neighbor's house is vacant anyway.

Any other ideas on how to eradicate?  I live in the city, so no crazy wildfires or shotguns.

shot shells with magnesium, aluminum, and gunpowder. comes in an old school type canister. like 35mm film does. you open it, dump out the magnesium/aluminum, close it. smack the hell out of it agqainst something hard. ( breaking the explosive into usable pieces. ) which is safe until fire applied. all of this crap goes into the hole, light a piece of paper, anddrop in. ( turning head away. ) because flash is as bright as a welding torch they dont explode but whatever is close enough to it. has vision problems for a while

I think a more effective and safer solution would be to run the garden hose into one of those holes and drown them all.

this does work too. ive used hte welding compound, ( was used for welding 1/2" copper ground wire on induistrial sites. after we completed the job. alot of crap got tossed. including 4 dozen gopherbombs. i do NOT store these in the house. i keep them in a small cave on property.

Problem is, the little rodents have lived for millennia through all sorts of torrential rain storms. A garden hose might give you the element of surprise though.

I've used that grub killer stuff too Jester - with limited success. I didn't have a spreader though, and had to spread it by hand (with gloves on of course).

I have a spreader and used 1.5 times the strength. I hope this works. My yard is looking like the wack-a-mole game at the local fair.

mebbe ask around local area if someone has a ferret?

Mole repellers similar to those shown here should do the trick. Chasing them away may not be as satisfying as killing them, but there's a hell of a lot less to clean up.

I did not know that those existed.  I'll try them out if my grub killer does not work.

Our cat has pretty much kept our yard and vegetable gardens rabbit,vole and mole free. When we first moved in we had a lot of moles and in the winter the voles (field mice) would take shelter in our garage. Now we only occasionally see a mole hole hidden underneath our deck. 

Had the same problem last summer. I lost the battle early spring by not getting the grub killer on the lawn early enough. I use the hose spray kind as i don't have a spreader, seems to work really well if you get it on soon enough. I sprayed it down around mid may this year. Grass is looking better! Next year I'll dabble with fertilizers and some broad leaf killer.

When I bought the house, we had a family of ground hogs(mom pops and 2 kids) living in my neighbor's shed, and enjoying my big back yard and shed. Me and one of my roommates Dale Gribble'd those beasts. Grabbed em all up by the back of the neck, boxed them up and relocated to a nice park ~15mins away. We're working on fixing all the bigger tunnels as i think the moles were using them as easy transport. Got so fed up with critters in the shed i bought a small animal trap. Set it up with some peanut butter crackers. THAT BACKFIRED!



HAHA I caught a f%$king skunk!! He wasn't too pleased on being caged up, but was super stoked to be set free! even held in his stank for the next sucker. He did cover my mower in dirt digging around though.

The grass looks great this summer. Haven't seen any moles, but am sketched out to reset the trap and cage another skunk. Maybe i'll bait the trap with grubs next time?

Holy Sh!t. That's awesome. We have no skunks around but roving coons and possums. They use to go after our open compost bin so we had to convert it to a close one. We had a showdown once on our deck between a possum and our cat. The possum played possum for about 20 minutes and the cat would just stand and hiss. We then let out our weimeraner, who was pointing the whole time behind the sliding door, and that possum took off like a bat out of hell.

Pfft. I used to have a maine coon cat. That sucker would chase after birds.. mice. rats.. possums.. dogs...
Anything that came within a 20ft radius of my property.

and then come nightfall, he would go LOOKING for trouble.
