Hi all!

Back in March I sold my beloved GS500E, to get an I4. Unfortunatly I bought the bike with the best "specs" bike with a tight budget, so I ended up with a beated up CBR600 F4. The bike wasn't bad at all, but 25 Kmiles of careless use leave some marks. No stickers, painted over in some spots, dryed rubber, leaks that stop leaking in one point to start in another...long story short, I sold it for the same money+parts that I spent. The buyer made a good deal as the bike was working ok, I just spend the finite amount of energy I had in it. BTW, I didn't like to work on the bike, remove a ram air duct in order to open the radiator cap?! WTF?!

Now, I wasn't going to commit the same mistake, more patience to get a new bike, and looked for the love of my life, that I always should have been looking and gathering the money for it.
A FAT-ASS, BAD-ASS, 99 GSX-R 750, fuel injected. The bike had 11Kmiles, beautifull shape, almost like new. The seller bought the bike and soon after his best friend died in a stupid motorcycle accident. Long story short, the bike has been sitting for 5 years! He didn't want to ride the bike and was to attached to it for selling it...until now!   O0
After I contacted the seller he put the bike in the shop for a general service, and they detected a faulty fuel pump. That made a nice rebate and I got the bike even cheaper! Of course, one year working my bikes I already had a source for parts, so when I got there to see the bike I took a used fuel pump...but the fuel tank was all rusty! (Which isn't necessarly a bad thing, it's the assurance that the bike has been sitted for a long time). That delayed the deal one day...but it was worth it! Got a set of track fairings that the seller never got to use!! Nice han?! The seller was almost crying in the end...

This bike is much smoother than the CBR, you got power in all the RPM range (opposite to the 9000Rpm warp zone in the CBR), has a OEM steering damper, handles like a dream, gear changes are precise, etc... The only downsides, uncomfortable sitting position and fuel economy isn't that good...but maybe has more to do with wrist twisting addiction...  :icon_twisted:

For all the GS500 owners looking to grow up to an I4, this 750 his much smoother and forgiving than other 600 I've ridden, even looking like thats a big jump, in the end is a better bet!
More important yet, look for bikes with their OEM stickers, from well informed sellers (when a seller says that he doesn't know when the bike has been serviced it's because it wasn't serviced in a long time, no exception here), take a skeptic friend with you that knows about bikes. Please listen to this, even if you are capable of repairing and servicing a bike like me, it will save you worries that doesn't worth the money!

Here is my new gixxer:

Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

Good read sir!  I'd like to read more of your comparison between the two if you have more to say on it.  750 looks sweee-eeeet.  Very nice.   :bstar: :bstar: :bstar:

"This bike is much smoother than the CBR, you got power in all the RPM range (opposite to the 9000Rpm warp zone in the CBR)"  So the f4 felt laggy until you got up to 9000rpm compared to the 'ready to rock at any rpm' 750?

Wicked fast indeed...haven't tried top speed yet, as I'm getting used to the bike but it felt solid and with much more to give at 150mph.  I've heard it holds against some blades up to the 929... :police:
It flicks as good or better than my friends GSX-R 1000 K8, with all those bells and whistles. The biggest differences I felt was the hydraulic clutch (sweet) and looks. Maybe the gearbox was more precise though. About power can't tell anything as I don't push my 750 to it's limits, so didn't push my friends 1000.
Very nice bike!

cbrfxr67, the 750 is much more smooth but not like having 140HP at the beggining of the rpm range. Let me explain.
The F4 wasn't laggy, it was like a GS500 up to the 9Krpm. Just felt like the GS500 controlable power up to that point but past that, my balls would be left behind. Really. At 9Krpm I could only focus the front vision, it was such an acceleration much better than any roller coster that I've been, almost too much to control. I've heard that a R6 would be something like that too, but with more Rpms! And that's fun, really! I did removed my carbs but never inspected to see if there was a jet kit or not. Never counted sprocket teeth also, maybe it had some magic in there. As far as I know it had a Devil exhaust only.

When I say the Srad 750 is smoother, I didn't mean that it could give you that "holy shaZam!" from start, but at 4Krpm it has some power, at 5000 it has more, at 6000 even more, and grows up in more linear fashion, and yes you get to a point where I can only focus my front vision, but there is not that big degree to get there. BTW, when I get there I'm way off the speed limit...   :icon_mrgreen:
One can feel the power of the 750 when sitting at 200kmh (125mph), twist it, and feel the bike pushing. Haven't had any machine that would give that feeling!

Appart from that, the ridding position was more comfortable on the CBR, bigger seat, corners very well (had Michelin Power One 2CTs, thats glue!), and looks better for most people than the SRAD. I hated to work in it, didn't like one bit of how the bike is assembled, but maybe I'm biased to Suzuki.
The SRAD, even uncomfortable for long rides, it's easier to lay down in the tank, my girlfriend prefers the SRAD seat comparing to any other bike (even the GS500) although she complains that has no place to hold herself. Big glovebox space!
This bike corners very very well, it's such a pleasure flicking the bike from one side to the other! Couldn't get (or trust) this in the CBR, although never adjusted the suspension!

Appart from what I feel, the SRAD has better equipment, inverted forks, fuel injection (no more carbs, yupi!),  digital temp display, fault warnings, OEM steering damper, 6 piston calipers...I can only think that it looses in not having a more secure key system with a transponder. The F4 in Europe came with the HISS system!

If it was today, I would skip the F4 and would waited and buy the SRAD comming from the GS500, without a doubt!

Good read sir!  Thanks for sharing the write up & I wish you well on that hot 750!  For me the best part would prob be -> "no more carbs, yupi"  ;)  Can't wait for that day myself!

loooove those SRAD 750s, amazing looking bikes, especially the red and gray ones. I've always been jealous of that storage space under the rear seat.

Actually, before I came to this one, I went to buy a red and gray one, but that owner was still waiting for some papers needed for registration and this one was ready to change owner...  :icon_twisted:
But I'm with you, the red and gray look very nice and are not very common, plus no white wheels, which means that you don't have to clean them everytime you ride!!  >:(
