So, I've been looking around for a good leather (or otherwise) riding jacket... bike sites, Ebay, just looking around. Well, I've come across hundreds of choices except I don't have a clue what size I'd wear. My local shops usually only have one or two sport bike jackets in stock and the rest are decked out harley leathers.

So, I'm about 5' 11"... 150 lbs, anyone similar to my size find a jacket they really like? Or even if you aren't my size, I'm just curious what name brands/off brands make good stuff.... what you guys have gotten and how you like it...

So, just let me know what jacket, what size, and price if you remember... any other details would be appreciated too.

Thanks guys/gals...

Hi:  I've had good luck with First Gear and with Joe Rocket.  Everyone on here will have a favorite.  I am almost exactly your height/weight, and M is my size 99.9% of the time.
I know there's a lot to look at.  Good luck.
Oh, yeah, a lot of folks get good deals at Newenough.com

I'm 6' 1" 155lbs, recently purchased a size medium Tuormaster Cortech Magnum Jacket $150.00 on closeout at www.mawonline.com .  I love it.  Looks cool, has armor, awesome lining, great vents .........

TourMaster makes some great products and has been in the m/c apparel business a long time. Vanson and First Gear are also great. Just make sure the leather isn't from Taiwan, those Taiwanese cows are skinny

I've gotten a lot of stuff from Fast Company. Motorcycle gear designed and produced by motorcyclists. They have great sales on their seconds and most of the stuff you can't find the faults in. I wear the Flat Track II jacket and draggin jeans on the street. I've had the jacket for 3 years and it's not showing any signs of wear. I really dig the Barracuda - they didn't have it when I bought mine.  :dunno:

I second that.  For the money, you can't buy a better jacket.  I have the Stunt jacket, size 56(euro), 46(american).  it's top quality stuff and I didn't pay anywhere near what the jacket is worth.  plus it has a full waist zipper, so if I ever wanted to buy a set of leather pants, I basically have a full race suit.

Yeah, I'd love an Alpinestar jacket but I have no idea what size I wear and no way to find out  :dunno: so it kind of sucks cause their P1 jacket looks really nice...

don't forget //www.newenough.com they have great closeout deals along with the regular stuff. I got a teknic lightning jacket from them but since my bike is still in pieces getting painted I can't give a very thorough description of what it is like while riding. As far as look/feel/quality I'd say the stitching on Teknic gear is nice and tight. The leather feels thick and is real stiff since I haven't broken it in yet. They do run a bit small tho.
Hope this helps

This site has lots of jackets to choose from, prices are some of the cheapest around.

I'm also searching for a jacket. Its hot here in Florida though so I'm looking at a mesh or textile jacket. I really like this jacket :

There is also a mesh version avaliable. Does anyone know if there is a big difference between the mesh version and the textile 'cordura' version.

thanks.

I just got this jacket in the mail today and I LOVE IT!!!!!!  I don't think I could have gotten a better jacket, very comfortable, plenty of vents, leather, nice padding, good looks (I think)..

It is an awesome jacket!  All I can say man.  Fits like a glove if you follow their sizing chart.

I also just got a pair of these icon gloves, looks bad ass w/ the jacket and they are very comfortable, I can operate my digital camera with them on!  http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/photos/OG/i9934.jpg

Exactly.  Do what I did:  Go to a brick and mortar, try on stuff til you find what you like, and what size fits you best, then get back online and find the best price. :)

That was my plan, but since I have no where within an hour to go try on stuff I'm kind of stuck...  :dunno:

I wear an Alpinestars leather and a Joe Rocket Mesh.

Astars are near broken in as soon as you get it, very supple leather and integrated body armor. The Joe Rocket, I got 'cuz it was cheap.  You sound like about a 44 long or 45 would be way too big. I'm 5'9 and about 200 pounds and the 45 fits perfect on me.
This is my signature.

I bought my jacket today. I had my local bike shop get me it. Paid $190, I could have bought it online a little cheaper, but when shipping fees are included the difference isn't too much, plus I'd rather support my locals.
Removable inner quilted liner (definately don't need that here in the Florida summer), removable pads with foam back protecter which can easily be changed with an armour style pad. It feels cool when riding, you feel a breeze under your arms which circulates around. I bought the small size, i'm 5ft8 140lbs, it fits snug and feels comfortable. Highly recommend.

Cool

I got a Teknic Jacket; but it's a little hot, so i think over the summer I might shopping for a cooler jacket-- probably Astars (like what heheheman got), or maybe something from http://www.brosh.com.

I have (in the mail) some Teknic Supervent Pants, and I'll get some Astars Air vent pants.  (so i might just have to get the Astars jacket to match, right?  haha)

That HJC jacket is really nice

anybody on here use/recommend/hate Brosh?[/url]

Chupacabrah - The Astars jacket i have also comes in a mesh version, it'll probably be a lot cooler than my textile one.
