 :woohoo:

Just ordered my new sonic springs for my 02 GS 500....Ordered 0.90 weight......

Those coupled with my R6 shock that is waiting to be installed should make for a much nicer ride with a better handling bike......

Just wanted to vent my excitement........Can anyone post what I need to get to pull the forks apart again, I lost the threads that said it........as I remember some allthread with nuts (what size?) and a long allen socket (again what size).....cause I also have to swap fork seals......

and what fork oil weight do you all recommend for this bike?

Only link I have with a detailed explanation on how to remove the forks.
which also includes the oil change.

I went with 15W oil in mine.

If you are only replacing the springs and fork oil, you don't need the weird homemade tool - that's only for getting the internals out, which is not needed for a spring and oil swap.

OK. My version (bought the parts, have not used yet) is two long 5/8" bolts and a 5/8 barrel connector. Was cheaper than other combinations of parts when I was shopping. Or a 5/8 bolt and you weld something to it also works...

Basically, the head of a 5/8" (the thread size is 5/8", the head is bigger, of course) bolt is the right size to engage the oddball and surely metric thing in the bottom of the forks. Then your tool needs to come up far enough to get a wrench on the other end of it (or be a t-wrench if you are welding it.) It's been a while but I think 18 inches is far enough. Use glue, red loctite, double nuts or solder on the barrel connector to keep it from unscrewing.

Got....I think......Post a pic of this creation please.  And what size it the allen bolt up inside the bottom of the fork leg?  I have a set of T-wrenches, will they be long enough?

I said 3/4 from memory, then searched for pictures and they all said 5/8, so i edited to 5/8...

waitaminute - you may have a different deal down there due to being an 02 - something changed, let someone who's got that sorted tell you what and when (most things changed 2000 | 2001, but others not...)
